Full Job Description

Sous Chef at Thistledown and Row - Buchanan, MI

We’re looking for a warm, authentic, passionate, inspired, hard-working, fun, and experienced person to join the team.

We’re in search of a talented individual to serve as sous chef to make a reality the vision of farming, harvesting, creating and serving farm-to-table food that expresses the land and the place. A commitment to sustainability; environmental responsibility; a local, sustainable, and community focus; a passion for gathering together as a community around food and drink; and a curious, collaborative, and committed mindset; these are some of the characteristics that will make this an ideal job for the right person.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work directly with founding executive chef, Jennifer Marvel, in the kitchen to craft a unique and fresh offerings.
Assist with and, in some cases, take responsibility for scheduling, inventory, ordering.
Be a lead brand ambassador.
Ensure the highest level of food quality and diligently follow SOPs.
Maintain inventory and equipment and a clean kitchen.
Contribute to product sales, marketing, and other business roles.
Think creatively about resources usage and minimization, including by-product recycling and reuse.

Qualifications and Requirements

Ability to work positively and productively with Chef and other staff.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three or more years of experience in the kitchen.
Potential to take on leadership roles.
Willingness to work with the team do what is necessary to further the business and its mission and vision.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
