Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Transit Coordinator to support the transit operations in the area of fare reconciliation, reservations, customer care, scheduling, and dispatch departmental assignments. This vital role involves coordinating vehicle dispatch, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. The Transit Coordinator will utilize advanced transportation management systems, monitor transit software to ensure routes are operating and on-time. Reserve, schedule, communicate with customers as needed and dispatch drivers to various locations using GPS technology, and GIS mapping tools to streamline routes and improve service efficiency. Duties

Coordinate daily road transportation operations, including dispatching vehicles and providing appropriate and accurate information to customers, drivers and other transit coordinators.
Utilize GPS and GIS tools to plan optimal routes, monitor vehicle locations, and ensure timely deliveries while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
Manage internal communication channels to facilitate smooth coordination among drivers and other staff members.
Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing customer inquiries or resolving transportation issues promptly.
Must have the ability to maintain composure in handling emergencies and other unexpected situations.
Proven experience in transportation planning, logistics coordination, or fleet management within a fast-paced environment.
Strong proficiency with transportation management systems such as Route Match, along with familiarity with vehicle dispatch software.
Knowledge of GIS mapping tools and GPS technology for route optimization and real-time vehicle tracking.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across phone systems and foster positive internal communication.
Familiarity with DOT regulations governing road transportation operations.
Experience with handling heavy call volume and two-way radio traffic.
One (1) year of Dispatch and/or Customer Service experience in the transportation field preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience or training which provides a demonstrated potential for performing the duties of the position.
Must have experience with phones, email and Microsoft office software.
Flexibility to work any days and shifts a plus, including emergencies, weekends and holidays.
