POSITION SUMMARY

The House Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a residential program, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals supported while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and agency regulations. This position provides direct supervision, training, and support to residential staff; coordinates medical, behavioral, and therapeutic services; manages program operations, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation; and works collaboratively with individuals served, families, interdisciplinary teams, and agency leadership to ensure high-quality, person-centered care and efficient program operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelors preferred
Previous experience working with people with disabilities, minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
Strong communication and follow-up skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities and work with limited supervision.
Possession of a valid NYS Drivers License.
Must be able to work weekend and evening hours as directed by the Assistant and Residential Director
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee (using approved agency lifting equipment) will be called upon to support and use a mechanical lift to maneuver adult people with developmental and other disabilities; transfer people to and from wheelchairs; to and from beds; on and off toilet seats; in and out of showers; and, in and out of vans or other vehicles.
An employee in this position must be able to physically intervene (when appropriate and in an approved manner) to protect the individual from causing harm to themselves or others and to safely evacuate the home or vehicle during an emergency. These duties may entail lifting/supporting/transferring up to 35 pounds, or on an emergency occasion 200 pounds or more with the assistance from other staff or devices.
Employees will regularly be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands (or hands and arms) to carry, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; crouch and kneel. Employees will also be regularly required to hear (with or without hearing devices), see (with or without corrective lenses) and speak.

Working Conditions and Environment:

While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee will be in a primarily residential environment (not a typical office setting); in a vehicle; or, in the community.
This position will at times require an employee to provide emergency coverage and to workday, evening and awake overnight shifts (including those falling on weekends and holidays).
This position may expose employees to bloodborne pathogens.
This position may expose employees to the profanity and violent behavior of people served.
This position may require staff to assist people served with very personal intimate care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise the daily operation of the residence.
Ensure staffing schedule is completed per program requirements.
Provides coverage for shifts as needed to ensure staffing needs are met
Provides on-call availability to the program for emergency situations and guidance as needed
Assist with transportation to and from work, day program and medical appointments as required/needed.
Monitor and supervise the implementation of consumer goals, ongoing services, and staff actions.
Provide coordination of all services and support in the areas of: medical/dental, nutritional, psychological/behavioral and therapeutic (i.e. OT, PT, speech, social work, etc.).
Ensure that residential staff are knowledgeable of all medical/clinical recommendations, prescription/orders and follow up care and that there is an understanding of their role in providing care and treatment.
Directly supervise and evaluate Direct Support Professionals and Support Staff.
Provide hands-on training of staff in delivery of all services.
Develop a schedule with the Director of Residential and coordinate staff in-service training programs and maintain training records on site for the house.
Ensure staff remain up to date and current on all required trainings
When necessary, complete all responsibilities as outlined in the Direct Care Support Professional job description.
Participate in the development and implementation of their consumers’ habilitation plan in conjunction with the ISP/CFA formulated as part of interdisciplinary team meetings.
Screen and assist in the hire process for all non-exempt staff for the house.
Participate with the Director of Residential in the on-going development and organization of the house.
Ensure that the daily operation of the facility adheres to applicable Federal, State and Local regulations and Agency policies and procedures.
Safeguard and maintain all necessary records in compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and Agency policies and procedures.
Monitor daily and on-going maintenance issues for the house.
Responsible for managing consumer funds, petty cash and all other financial transactions and insuring accurate documentation and accounting on a daily basis.
Adhere to program budget
Responsible for the safety of staff and the persons served under his/her supervision.
Adhere to the Agency’s Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Ethical Conduct.
Perform any other related duties as directed by the Assistant Director of Residential and/or designee.
