Full Job Description

Inter Contracting Corp. (ICC) is a NYC-area heavy civil/infrastructure contracting firm working on public works projects throughout the NYC area. We're looking for an organized, detail-driven Assistant Bookkeeper to support our Finance and Contract Administration team.

Position Overview

The Assistant Bookkeeper will support day-to-day bookkeeping functions across multiple entities. This is a full-time, in-person role based in our Mount Vernon, NY office, and includes light front-desk/reception coverage.

Responsibilities

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks
Assist with bank and account reconciliations
Support invoice processing and vendor/subcontractor payment tracking
Prepare and track change orders on active projects
Assist with certified payroll and prevailing wage documentation
Help maintain organized financial documentation across multiple company entities
Support month-end close processes
Answer and direct incoming phone calls
Greet visitors and manage front-office coverage as needed
Perform general administrative and filing duties for the Finance team

Qualifications — Must Have

3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting support experience
Proficiency in QuickBooks required
Demonstrated experience preparing change orders
Experience working on prevailing wage and union construction projects
Strong Excel skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Comfortable handling phones and front-desk duties alongside financial tasks
Ability to work in person, full time, at our Mount Vernon, NY office
