Full Job Description

This position is responsible for researching, evaluating, and posting transfer credit; awarding advanced standing credit for other prior learning experiences; coordinating a system researching course articulation; ensuring standard course equivalencies are updated; and updating information to the College Source/TES system.

Reports To Assistant Director of Graduation What position(s) reports to this position?

Transfer Evaluation Specialist

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum (2) years’ full-time professional work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge:
Student database software

Transfer credit evaluation principles, including course equivalencies, articulation agreements, and prior learning assessment

Applicable federal and state regulations related to student records, including FERPA

Higher education records, admissions, registration, graduation, and degree audit processes.

Skills:
Communicating effectively with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population

Analyzing, researching, and recommending solutions to problems

Managing multiple priorities

Supervising, training, coaching, and evaluating employees and student workers.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Using Microsoft Office Suite and similar software

Strong customer service skills with the ability to explain complex policies in a clear and professional manner

Abilities:
Use independent judgment

Collaborate effectively with faculty, academic advisors, registration, financial aid, and other campus departments

Complete tasks with attention to accuracy and detail

Identify discrepancies, investigate complex transfer credit issues, and develop appropriate solutions

Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information

Communicate, both verbally and in writing

Work flexible hours

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:

The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access, move, lift, push, pull, work on, or operate equipment or materials and/or to assist students.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to grasp, push, pull, or lift materials or equipment.

This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in a relatively safe and secure indoor, office setting.

Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs and Services, or a related field

Full-time experience in student services at a community college.

Required Training

Annual Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training.

Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution

Work Hours

40 hours a week. Office is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (Aug-May) and 7:30am-6pm (June-July).

Work is performed during various hours within office schedule options; some evenings and weekends required.

Works two Saturday “Opening Day” events per academic year.
