Banquet Captain & Guest Experience Ambassador

Department: Banquets, Recreation & Guest Experience
Employment Status: Part-Time, Year-Round / Full-Time Seasonal
Reports To: Food & Beverage Operations Manager and Guest Experience Leadership
Location: Fontana Village Resort & Marina

Position Summary

The Banquet Captain & Guest Experience Ambassador is a hybrid hospitality role supporting banquet and event operations, recreation activities, and the overall resort guest experience.

During weddings, group functions, conferences, and special events, this position serves as a Banquet Captain and helps coordinate the service team, event setup, guest service, and breakdown process. Outside of scheduled events, the position supports recreation programming, resort activities, and guest engagement throughout the property.

This is a part-time, year-round position with the opportunity for full-time seasonal hours. The number of hours available will be driven by the resort’s event calendar, seasonal occupancy, recreation programming, and operational needs.

During the off-season, continued hours may be available based on the employee’s interest, availability, performance, and willingness to be cross-trained in other departments throughout the resort.

Essential ResponsibilitiesBanquet and Event Operations

Review Banquet Event Orders and event requirements before each assigned function.
Participate in pre-event meetings and confirm room setup, service timelines, menus, guest counts, special requests, and assigned responsibilities.
Assist with the setup of banquet rooms, ceremony areas, meeting spaces, buffets, bars, registration tables, and other event locations.
Serve as the on-floor service leader during assigned events.
Conduct pre-shift meetings and clearly communicate event expectations, service standards, assignments, and timelines to the banquet team.
Coordinate the timing of food, beverage, and guest service with culinary, banquet, sales, and event leadership.
Ensure tables, service stations, buffets, bars, and guest areas remain clean, stocked, organized, and presentation-ready.
Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to questions, concerns, and service needs.
Maintain communication with the event contact and appropriate resort leadership throughout the function.
Adjust staffing assignments and service coverage as needed to support the event.
Coordinate and actively participate in post-event cleanup, breakdown, storage, and reset.
Confirm that equipment, linens, décor, supplies, and event materials are properly returned or stored.
Report event concerns, damage, shortages, guest feedback, and follow-up needs to management.
Assist with weddings, conferences, family reunions, corporate retreats, festivals, resort programming, and other special events.

Recreation and Guest Experience

Welcome guests and provide accurate information about resort activities, amenities, dining options, operating hours, and local attractions.
Assist with recreation programs, games, tournaments, children’s activities, seasonal events, holiday programming, and family entertainment.
Help prepare, operate, inspect, and close recreation areas and activity locations.
Maintain clean, safe, organized, and guest-ready activity spaces.
Encourage guest participation while maintaining a friendly, welcoming, and professional presence.
Assist guests with directions, activity registration, equipment, basic questions, and special requests.
Identify opportunities to improve the guest experience and take appropriate action within the employee’s authority.
Communicate maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and operational concerns to the appropriate department.
Support guest recovery efforts and involve leadership when additional assistance is required.
Provide visible guest-service coverage during high-occupancy periods, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Leadership and Team Support

Lead through active participation and professional behavior.
Assign and redirect banquet team members based on event needs and service priorities.
Help train seasonal and part-time team members on banquet procedures, guest service expectations, setup standards, and breakdown requirements.
Promote teamwork between Banquets, Food and Beverage, Recreation, Sales, Housekeeping, Front Desk, Maintenance, and other resort departments.
Maintain accountability for assigned areas, equipment, supplies, and event responsibilities.
Complete event notes, checklists, incident documentation, or shift reports as required.
Follow all resort policies, food safety requirements, alcohol service procedures

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
