Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Underwriting Member Services Operations Manager supports the Chief Underwriting Officer by overseeing daily workflow, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of member transactions, and providing guidance to a team of Member Service Representatives (MSR). This role is responsible for improving operational efficiency, standardizing processes, and serving as an escalation point for complex member or broker inquiries. The Manager will perform all core MSR duties while also coordinating team performance, training, and quality control.

The Member Services Operations Manager exercises moderate independent judgment in coordinating team activities, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring compliance with established procedures. Works under general supervision but is expected to proactively identify and address operational challenges

This position plays a key role in maintaining high service standards for Signal Mutual and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The Member Services Operations Manager will be expected to support immediate needs of the business including:

Support transition of Member Collateral management from Finance to Member Services
Support transition of Payroll Audit summaries and tracking from Operations to Member Services
Reimagine monthly Member payroll reporting processing, with design to implement technology solution

Essential Duties & Responsibilties

Team Leadership & Workflow Management
Provide daily direction, support, and oversight to MSRs to ensure consistent service delivery.
Monitor workload distribution and adjust assignments to maintain efficiency and meet deadlines.
Conduct periodic quality reviews of MSR work to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures.
Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring new MSRs.
Member Services Operations
Oversee and assist with processing new member setups, renewals, and coverage changes.
Ensure accurate and timely entry of monthly payroll declarations and related billing activities.
Support MSRs in administering Signal Policies and State Act policies, including endorsements, questionnaires, invoices, and loss information requests.
Review complex applications, financial documents, and change requests for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure timely collection of outstanding payroll declarations, security instruments, and supplementary calls.
Maintain high-quality member and broker correspondence, ensuring consistency across the team.
Process Improvement & Efficiency
Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement solutions to streamline operations.
Develop and maintain standardized procedures for MSRs.
Collaborate with management to enhance database usage, reporting, and documentation practices.
Support the adoption of new tools, technologies, or processes that improve service delivery.
Communication & Coordination
Coordinate communication between MSRs, underwriters, brokers, adjusters, and other internal departments.
Ensure timely updates to mailing lists, member records, and internal systems.
Assist with preparation of materials for Board of Directors meetings when needed.
Maintain orderly files and ensure compliance with documentation guidelines

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
2–3 years of experience in a Property Casualty insurance policy administration or insurance operations role.
Prior experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory capacity preferred.
Knowledge of general insurance practices and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’
Compensation Act is beneficial
ACSR designation is preferred but not required.
Some travel may be required – to support remote direct report

Familiarity with Ocean Marine or USL&H insurance is a plus

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
