Full Job Description

The Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties is the premier not-for profit of families, self advocates and community members dedicated to assisting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Job Coach to join our team Vocational Workshop. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring individuals with developmental disabilities and will play a crucial role in fostering personal and professional growth. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create supportive environments that encourage individuals to achieve their goals.

Duties

Provide one-on-one coaching sessions to individuals, focusing on personal development and skill enhancement.
Work directly with consumers in the center and referred to program from local DVR office to facilitate employment readiness
Mentor clients with developmental disabilities to help them navigate daily challenges and improve their quality of life.
Conduct assessments and interviews to identify individual strengths, needs, and goals.
Develop tailored action plans that promote workforce development and employability skills.
Maintain accurate records of client progress and adapt coaching strategies as needed.
Where appropriate, develop a phase-out schedule from intensive on-site coaching to follow along based on careful assessment of job performance, employer satisfaction and integration into the work place or develop a schedule for ongoing intensive support as needed
Maintain follow up communication with families and individuals placed including regular group meetings, outing and events

Requirements

Proven experience in mentoring or coaching individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Strong interviewing skills to effectively assess client needs and aspirations.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
A genuine commitment to empowering individuals through education and support.
Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field required
