Full Job Description

Overview
A growing automotive group is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with prior experience working across multiple payroll systems. The incumbent will work under the direction of a senior team member and play a critical role in weekly payroll preparation and processing, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory laws, auditing payroll records and producing essential reporting. The right individual will be highly detail-oriented, a quick learner, and thrive under pressure while maintaining the utmost confidentiality. Experience in multi-location payroll environments is a must.

Key Responsibilities

Process weekly payroll for multiple locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Full-cycle payroll processing, including new hire setup, terminations, timecard validation, adjustments, and garnishments
Primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and resolution of discrepancies
Maintain accurate employee payroll and timekeeping records
Assist with payroll reconciliations and month-end close activities
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Support year-end payroll processes including W-2 reconciliation and reporting
Conduct invoice and payroll audits as needed
Collaborate with HR and accounting teams for cross-functional accuracy and alignment

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 3 years of relevant payroll experience
Experience with ADP Workforce Now required; or familiarity with Paylocity, Paychex, or other platforms strongly preferred
Prior multi-location payroll processing experience required
Strong understanding of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and interruptions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must demonstrate initiative, independence, and a high level of discretion
Solid organizational and problem-solving abilities
Accounting or finance background preferred
