Compensation & Schedule

Performance Pay Plan (Base Pay + Commission + Bonuses)
Expected first-year earnings of $50,000+
Experienced, high-performing Express Service Advisors have the opportunity to earn $75,000+ annually
Performance bonuses and incentive opportunities
Overtime opportunities available
Same schedule every week
Schedule includes Saturdays (No Sundays)
One non-consecutive weekday off
Several shifts each week ending at 7:00 PM

What You'll Do

As an Automotive Service Advisor (Express), you'll be the primary point of contact between our customers and our service team, helping ensure every guest receives an outstanding dealership experience.

Responsibilities Include

Welcome customers and create repair orders for routine maintenance and light repairs.
Listen carefully and accurately document customer concerns for technicians.
Explain maintenance recommendations in an easy-to-understand manner.
Prepare repair estimates and review available service options.
Keep customers informed throughout the repair process.
Monitor repair order progress to ensure timely completion.
Review completed repairs with customers and answer questions.
Recommend future maintenance based on Honda factory maintenance schedules.
Ensure repair orders are accurate and complete before closing.
Deliver an exceptional customer experience on every visit.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Previous Service Advisor experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to work a full-time schedule, including Saturdays.

Do I need previous automotive experience?

No. Many of our most successful Service Advisors came from restaurants, hospitality, retail, banking, and other customer service careers. If you enjoy helping people and providing exceptional service, we'll teach you the automotive side.

Will I receive paid training?

Absolutely. We provide paid Honda and dealership training along with one-on-one mentorship to help you succeed. Our goal is to help you build a long-term career—not just learn a job.

Is there room for advancement?

Yes. This position is specifically designed as a career path. Many of our Senior Service Advisors and department leaders started in our Express Service Advisor position before advancing within the dealership.

How busy is the dealership?

Very busy. Buerkle Honda has one of the largest Honda service operations in the Twin Cities with a loyal customer base and consistent repair volume throughout the year, providing excellent earning opportunities.

Will I work Sundays?

No. Buerkle Honda is closed every Sunday. Your schedule will remain consistent each week and includes one weekday off in addition to Sunday.

What does a typical day look like?

You'll greet customers, write repair orders for routine maintenance and light repairs, communicate with technicians, keep customers informed throughout the repair process, and ensure every customer leaves with an exceptional service experience.

Customer service skills: Service Advisors deal with suppliers, provide estimates and schedule appointments, so being courteous and friendly is essential. They also need to be able to handle customer complaints diplomatically and politely.
Communication skills: As a liaison between the customer and technician, a Service Advisor needs to be able to clearly explain the technician’s repair recommendations to customers while communicating customer needs to technicians.
Comprehension skills: Service Advisors should be able to comprehend customers questions and concerns as well as what is being said when technicians give complex service recommendations.
Engineering and mechanical expertise: Having extensive knowledge in these areas is essential when looking over complex technical documents, ordering online and speaking with technicians.
Troubleshooting skills: Service Advisors need to be able to think on their feet and quickly resolve issues when customers change their minds about service work, repairs are running behind schedule or parts arrive late.
Math and writing skills: Service Advisors prepare and calculate estimates so having good math and writing skills are an essential part of the job.
