Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will support the accounting department by assisting with day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in various accounting systems and software while contributing to the smooth operation of our financial processes. Responsibilities

Assist with data entry and management of financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment reconciliation
Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
Prepare journal entries, ledger postings, and assist with month-end closing procedures in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Help with payroll processing tasks, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors
Support the preparation of financial reports, including statements related to budgets, cash flow, and other key financial metrics

Requirements

Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, ideally within public or non-profit accounting environments
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
Knowledge of financial concepts including GAAP standards and technical accounting practices
Experience with payroll processing, bank reconciliations, account analysis, and account reconciliation procedures
Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing
Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Ability to adapt quickly to new software systems and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
