Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented (potentially cross-trained) Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional patient care and efficient administrative support within a busy dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of dental office operations. As a key member of our team, you will ensure smooth daily clinic functions while delivering outstanding service to our patients.

Duties

Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Open Dental.
Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, assisting chairside
Collect payments, process insurance claims, verify coverage, and perform billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks or EMR platforms in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Review documentation for accuracy, update care plans, and ensure proper coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards for billing purposes.
Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to handle appointment scheduling, patient inquiries, and follow-up calls efficiently.
Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, managing electronic health records (EHR), and performing data entry with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while providing excellent patient service at the front desk and during intake procedures.
Assist with insurance verification processes and ensure accurate documentation review for billing accuracy.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and clinical procedures is essential.
Prior experience assisting chairside as a DA is highly preferred; assisting with implant surgery is a plus.
Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Open Dental; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification, and health information management practices.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient service and maintain professional phone etiquette.
Demonstrated clerical skills including filing, data entry (10-key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Office management experience combined with strong organizational skills to handle administrative duties seamlessly in a fast-paced environment.
