Full Job Description

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver

ABSOLUTE TRANSPORTATIONS INC.

Location: San Jose, CA 95117 (In-Person)

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour

Schedule:
Flexible schedules available. Typical shifts begin between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM and end between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Weekend availability is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate wheelchair-accessible and gurney-equipped transportation vehicles
Transport clients to and from medical appointments, healthcare facilities, and residences
Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and securement procedures
Maintain professional, courteous, and compassionate interactions with clients and facility staff
Follow all safety policies, traffic laws, and company procedures
Communicate effectively with dispatch personnel regarding schedules, delays, and client needs
Complete required transportation and trip documentation accurately

Qualifications

Must be at least 23 years of age due to insurance eligibility requirements
Valid California Driver's License held for a minimum of two years
Acceptable DMV driving record meeting company and insurance requirements
Minimum two years of experience driving passenger vans, commercial vehicles, shuttle vehicles, delivery vehicles, or similar
Ability to safely push, pull, maneuver, and stabilize wheelchairs and gurneys, including movement on ADA-compliant ramps
Ability to communicate effectively in English with clients, healthcare facilities, dispatch personnel, and emergency responders
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including a background check conducted in accordance with applicable law

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and assisting passengers with mobility limitations. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions of the position.
