Full Job Description

Alate Health is an outpatient interventional radiology center where we see patients in clinic and perform procedures in our office. Our office location is in the museum district. Job duties include helping out in the procedure room to gather supplies and position C-arm (xray) machine, set up trays for procedures and also help prep and room patients for clinic office visits. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to jump in and get involved with procedures, enjoys patient care and is fast learner and team player. General Summary of Duties: Responsible for patient care under direction of physician or licensed health care provider, to include setting up rooms for procedures, assisting physician during procedures, preparing patients for procedures and office visits, .

Supervisor: Physician

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

Preparing medical charts and rooming patients for clinic visits
Following up on lab and imaging test results
Calling patients for pre operative check.
Calling patients for post operative follow up
Assist in pre operative and post operative care of patients for procedures.
Set up sterile trays for procedures.
Assisting physician during procedure, including obtaining supplies, operating machines, etc.
Performing venipuncture and start IVs and Hep-Locks
Ensuring the safe discharge of all patients who have had procedures
Educating patients regarding post-operative instructions
Ensuring a high standard of care to working within company policies and procedures
Maintaining personal contact with patients and relatives, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times.
Maintaining a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with established standards and regulations
Educating the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate regarding the requested procedure.
Maintaining timely and accurate nursing records and ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
Working directly on Electronic Medical Record system for the electronic management of patient information
Demonstrating proficiency in the practice’s Electronic Medical Record system.
Responsible for the accuracy of client information entered into Electronic Medical Record system.
Assisting with Center flow and clean up.
Be willing to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Education: High school diploma and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training program

Experience: At least five years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred, procedural experience a plus

Certification: Medical Assistant Certification

Phlebotomy Technician or IV Therapy Certification is a plus

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

Knowledge of health care field
Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary to administer medication and treatment as prescribed by physician

Skills:

Skill to assess, evaluate, and record symptoms and behavior to facilitate patient outcome.
Skill to place and maintain IVs
Skill to keep logs to ensure completion and efficiency of patient care.
Skill to prepare reports to provide information and documentation to others.
Skill to communicate (verbal and written) effectively

Abilities:

Ability to organize, plan, coordinate tasks to facilitate efficient workflow.
Ability to time manage and multitask.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
Must be able to operate a computer keyboard and mouse to enter information into various computer systems.

Equipment Operated: Patient monitors, blood pressure/temperature machines, skin perfusion pressure machine, computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, C-arm, PACS etc

Work Environment: Large portion of day will be in a minimally lit room. Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.

Mental and Physical Requirements: Involves walking or standing 90 percent of the day, sitting the remainder. May require working under stressful conditions. May require lifting heavy patients.Documents information about patient care and radiologic services provided.
