JOIN THE LIMÓN TEAM!

Limón Restaurant is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly organized Food Expo / Food Runner to join our team.

This is one of the most critical positions in the restaurant. The Food Expo serves as the primary communication link between the kitchen, service staff, and management, ensuring every dish is prepared correctly, presented beautifully, and delivered to guests promptly and accurately.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, remains calm under pressure, communicates effectively, and takes pride in delivering an exceptional guest experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Food Expo / Food Runner is responsible for coordinating activities between the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure all food orders are prepared, plated, garnished, and delivered according to Limón standards.

This position serves as the final quality control checkpoint before food reaches the guest and plays a key role in maintaining ticket times, order accuracy, food presentation standards, and overall guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask efficiently, and capable of performing under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and sense of urgency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Food Quality & Presentation

Verify all food is prepared according to recipe specifications and presentation standards.
Inspect every plate before it leaves the kitchen.
Ensure proper garnishes are applied to all dishes.
Verify modifications, allergies, and special requests are executed correctly.
Ensure hot food is served hot and cold food is served cold.
Ensure all dishes meet Limón's quality standards.
Follow proper plate presentation and garnish standards for every menu item.
Monitor food freshness, quality, and consistency.

Expediting & Coordination

Coordinate communication between kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, runners, and management.
Pull and coordinate finished plates in proper order for service.
Ensure complete orders are assembled before being delivered to guests.
Monitor ticket times and communicate delays to management.
Prioritize VIP guests, allergy tickets, modifications, and special requests.
Maintain smooth communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
Assist in controlling the pace of service during peak periods.
Ensure food is delivered in the proper sequence and timing.

Food Running

Deliver food quickly, accurately, and professionally.
Announce dishes confidently when serving guests.
Verify guests receive the correct meals.
Provide exceptional guest service and hospitality.
Assist servers in maintaining a smooth dining experience.
Maintain a strong sense of urgency throughout service.

Organization & Cleanliness

Set up and maintain the Expo station.
Stock garnishes, serving utensils, sauces, plates, and necessary supplies.
Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked at all times.
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
Assist with side work and operational duties as assigned.

Team Support

Assist servers, bussers, bartenders, and kitchen staff as needed.
Support restaurant operations during busy periods.
Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
Help maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Minimum 2 years of restaurant experience required.
Minimum 1 year of Food Runner, Expo, Server Assistant, or similar experience in a full-service restaurant.
Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and understanding).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to multitask effectively.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Ability to remain calm and focused during high-volume service.
Strong teamwork mentality.
Ability to carry multiple plates safely.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Reliable transportation.
Dependable attendance.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Valid Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain one before employment).

Preferred

Previous experience in high-volume casual upscale or full-service restaurants.
Experience with food presentation and quality control.
Spanish speaking is a plus; however, English fluency is required.
