JOB DESCRIPTION

BUSINESS MANAGER

Alliance For Progress Charter School is currently seeking a full-time Business Manager. AFPCS is a community-based K-8 school in the heart of North Philadelphia, just a few blocks from Temple University. The vision of AFPCS is to empower children to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviors and technological competence that will make them lifetime learners and achievers in a technologically oriented world.

ROLE: Business Manager will oversee all aspects of AFPCS financial and compliance operations.

POSITION TYPE: Full-time position; 12 months per year

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial/Business

Acts as a liaison between the school and financial management partners
Updates and maintains accurate accounting records, policies, and procedures
Processes all payments (field trips, venues, class dues, lunch, late fees, yearbook, etc.)
Records and maintains records of all fundraising activities
Receives and uploads all approved invoices in database system
Monitors and tracks money app transactions
Manages billing inquiries, disputes, and payments
Distributes and reconciles petty cash, checks, debits, and purchase orders
Manages financial and business inventory
Supports monthly and annual budget
Manages all aspects of procurement
Manages filing system for contracts, invoices, agreements, legal documents, IRS forms and all other business-related forms
Secures school keys, security, and safe codes.
Prepares daily deposit slips and submits banking transactions and expenditure requests
Assists with preparing monthly and annual business/financial reports
Prepares documentation/reports for annual audits
Prepares and manages all shipping services
Researches and solidifies competitive pricing for curricula and supplies
Tracks agreement and Certificate of Insurance expiration dates and follows up on expired documents
Assists with overseeing contracted services

Compliance

PIMS Administration
Act 48 teacher credentialing
Staff background clearance renewals and monitoring
Monitors all Pennsylvania Department of Education deadlines for the schools
Effectively communicates compliance deadlines to the appropriate school personnel for timely action
Works closely with the Compliance Officer to ensure that necessary logistical information and relevant documents are provided in advance
Distributes important information to schools on a monthly and weekly basis
Monitors due dates and alerts Compliance Officer when they become overdue

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in school business and compliance
Experience as a business manager or relevant managerial role
Proven experience with business and strategy development processes
Outstanding poise in a fast-paced business environment
Educational experience Business degree preferred
