Full Job Description

Manual Machinist

H.E.R.O.S. Inc. | Chandler, AZ | Reports to: Operations Manager

At H.E.R.O.S., every part you machine has one job, to fly. As part of Precision Aviation Group, we repair and overhaul helicopter engine components for operators who count on us to get it exactly right, no exceptions, no shortcuts. If you take pride in tight tolerances and clean work, this is a shop where that pride matters.

We're looking for a Manual Machinist who can move fluidly between manual and CNC equipment, read a blueprint like a second language, and bring genuine problem-solving instinct to components that don't always come with a textbook fix. Aerospace repair work is rarely routine and if that sounds like a feature, not a bug, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining specifications
Operate manual lathes, manual mills, and CNC mills, holding precision and quality standards on every piece
Write and run CNC programs to produce components to spec
Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, and more)
Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling to keep everything running at its best
Troubleshoot machining challenges alongside your team and help improve how we do things
Document your work accurately — in this industry, the paper trail is as important as the part

What You Bring

3+ years of hands-on experience, with solid, demonstrated command of:
Manual Lathe
Manual Mill
CNC Mill
CNC Programming
Strong blueprint reading and precision measurement skills
Mechanical aptitude and the math fundamentals to back it up
A collaborative mindset — you'll troubleshoot as a team, not in a silo

Bonus Points If You Have

CMM operation and programming experience
Tool and die making background
Familiarity with Fagor controllers
Jig bore grinding experience
CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Surfcam, or similar)
The ability and appetite to design and engineer custom repairs for aerospace components. If you like a challenge nobody's solved before, this is where you'll find one.
