Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Operations to lead and optimize our organization’s core functions. In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for key administrative and support departments to ensure exceptional resident experience, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

This position oversees Human Resources and provides leadership and supervision to administrative and operational departments including Activities, Supportive Services, Resident Services, and Housekeeping.

The Director of Operations partners closely with the Executive Director to ensure efficient daily operations, high employee engagement, strong financial performance, and a culture aligned with Sierra Winds’ hospitality focus.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Provides direct oversight and leadership to department heads in Human Resources, Health Center, Foodservice, Facilities, IT, Finance, Activities, Supportive Services, Resident Services, and Housekeeping.
Ensures all departments operate in alignment with the community’s mission, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements.
Drives operational efficiency, quality improvement, and service excellence across departments.
Monitors performance metrics, service standards, and resident satisfaction indicators.
Partners with the Executive Director on operational planning, budgeting, and capital initiatives.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations applicable to senior living operations.
Participates in strategic planning and long-range operational initiatives.

Human Resources Oversight

Provides strategic oversight of all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation practices, training and development, compliance, and employee engagement.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
Oversees workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, OSHA compliance, and safety programs.
Guides leadership in performance management, disciplinary processes, and employee development.
Supports succession planning and workforce stability initiatives.
Leads initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

Collaborates with Finance to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational alignment with budgetary goals.
Monitors departmental budgets and identifies opportunities for cost containment and operational improvements.
Supports occupancy, revenue optimization, and cost-efficiency strategies.
Reviews operational data to guide decision-making.

Resident Experience & Hospitality

Ensures all departments uphold Sierra Winds’ hospitality promises.
Promotes a culture of accountability, service excellence, and teamwork.
Addresses operational concerns that impact resident satisfaction.
Serves as a leadership presence within the community.

Leadership & Development

Coaches and develops department leaders to strengthen operational performance.
Promotes interdepartmental collaboration.
Facilitate communication between administrative and service departments.
Leads or participates in community committees as assigned.
Ensures all departments operate in alignment with the community’s mission, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements.
Drives operational efficiency, quality improvement, and service excellence across departments.
Monitors performance metrics, service standards, and resident satisfaction indicators.
Partners with the Executive Director on operational planning, budgeting, and capital initiatives.

Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5–7 years progressive leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality environment.
Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple operational departments.
Strong knowledge of labor regulations, operational compliance, budgeting, and leadership development. Proven ability to lead through influence, collaboration, and strategic thinking.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Leadership qualities that inspire trust, foster collaboration, and promote a positive organizational culture.
