Job Summary

Blueprint Education is seeking qualified candidates for a School Social Worker to join our Hope High School campus. Under the direction of school leadership and in collaboration with the School Safety Program Team (SSPT), the School Social Worker will support student mental health, safety, and overall school climate through prevention, early intervention, and coordinated support services. The School Social Worker will provide assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation services to support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students. This role is an essential component of the school’s comprehensive safety and prevention efforts aligned with the Arizona Department of Education School Safety Program. Hope High School is located at 75th Ave & Lower Buckeye in Southwest Phoenix and is a great small learning environment dedicated to inspiring our students to be champions of their own learning.

Hope High School is an alternative public high school serving students who have not found success at their prior schools. We utilize alternative methods along with some TLC and strong teamwork to help our students find success.

Note: This is a grant funded position and renewal is subject to grant availability.

OVERALL ESSENTIAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Support & Case Management: Provide comprehensive counseling and intervention services to enhance the academic, personal, social, emotional, and career development of all students.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Actively participate as a core member of the site-level School Safety Program Team (SSPT) and collaborate weekly with LEA and School leadership, academic advisors, and other school support staff.
Community & Crisis Referral: Build, maintain, and coordinate a robust network of local community resources, wraparound service providers (e.g., Cartwheel virtual counseling), and state agencies to establish seamless referral processes and "warm handoffs" for students in need.
Crisis & Prevention Support: Inform safety concerns and offer proactive social work resources serving as vital preventative measures against school violence.
Documentation & Logging: Maintain generic, compliance-appropriate meeting notes via the student information system (SIS) Contact Log to respect pupil confidentiality, and submit required weekly activity logs to the Site Administrator.

PRIMARY GOALS SPECIFIC TO THIS SCHOOL/PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT

Reduce Chronic Absenteeism: Target and design interventions for students identified in chronic absenteeism reports (historically at 28.44%) to help remove external barriers to physical school attendance.
Mitigate Discipline and Behavioral Incidents: Provide self-regulation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skill-building to address the root causes behind student discipline referrals.
Improve Graduation Cohort Rates: Actively support at-risk students to reverse low course-progress trends and improve historical 4th and 5th-year cohort graduation milestones.
Address Student Risk Factors: Formulate strategic outreach and assistance programs targeting specific alternative student challenges including housing insecurity, hunger, family trauma, substance abuse prevention, and post-incarceration rehabilitation.

ADDITIONAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

90-Day Integration Plan: Execute a structured 90-day onboarding plan to effectively build rapport and visibility with the student body, families, and campus personnel.
Family Outreach & Systemic Support: Conduct home visits and engage single-parent or low socioeconomic status (SES) households to loop families directly into student success plans.
Parental Notification Compliance: Manage parent/guardian notifications ethically and systematically, ensuring outreach occurs prior to a student's seventh meeting, or upon direct student request.
Continuous Program Improvement: Assist the SSPT in regular data-driven program reviews, analyzing KPI dashboards semi-annually to pivot student strategies or propose necessary adjustments.
Ongoing Training: Participate in training as a part of the School Safety Grant Program as required.
Attend student services meetings (i.e. ESS and EL)

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution preferred.
Certification Requirement: Must hold and maintain a valid School Social Worker Certificate issued by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE).
Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Required before start)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDED

School Social Worker Experience Required (5 years preferred)
Extensive knowledge of trauma-informed care practices, adolescent development, and student hierarchy of needs in alternative education environments.
Strong competency handling socio-environmental challenges such as poverty, generational trauma, family counseling, and community resource networking.
Ability to interpret student data reports (e.g., behavioral logs, attendance metrics) to guide continuous care choices.
Excellent multidisciplinary collaboration communication skills to align with principal, safety directors, and community agencies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to:

Effectively communicate, speak, and hear to facilitate student counseling sessions, parent conferences, and team meetings.
Utilize a computer, standard office software, and Student Information System platforms regularly to record generic contact logs and print weekly data reports.
Navigate standard school campus layouts and safely travel within the local community to perform student home visits and community resource outreach meetings.

ORGANIZATIONAL/CULTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be an integral part of a strong and unifying team culture
All support staff work in two types of teams: Student and Family Support team (with a focus on meeting student and family needs including but not limited to non-academic needs, schedules, administrative requests, logistics, and more) as well as a cross-functional Scrum team made up of teachers and support staff (with a focus on school/student/staff culture and overall school improvement)

COMPENSATION/SALARY

Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm
Hours adjustable based on out of hours duties as required
208 days (198 scheduled days + 10 flex days as arranged with admin) (Late July through Early June)
$55k-65k
