Full Job Description

Southwest Industrial Rigging is seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the inspection, diagnostics, repair, preventative maintenance and safety compliance of a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and commercial vehicles including mobile cranes, tractors, trailers, forklifts, generators and support equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting abilities, extensive hydraulic and electrical experience and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of safety and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment and commercial vehicles.

Inspect, troubleshoot and repair:

· Diesel and gas engines

· Hydraulic systems

· Electrical and electronic systems

· Air brake systems

· Steering and suspension components

· Transmissions, driveline, and clutch systems

· HVAC & A/C systems

· Conduct DOT annual inspections and 90-day crane and commercial vehicle inspections in accordance with federal and company safety standards.

· Perform preventative maintenance services including fluid changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and equipment servicing schedules.

· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical malfunctions using diagnostic software, schematics, technical manuals and testing equipment.

· Complete operational and safety testing to verify repairs and equipment readiness.

· Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.

· Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, work orders and timesheets.

· Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures.

· Assist with field service repairs and emergency breakdown response as needed.

· Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and service vehicles.

· Work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a high-demand environment.

Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel repair, heavy equipment maintenance, or crane maintenance.

Strong knowledge of:

· Diesel engines and controls

· Hydraulics and pneumatics

· Electrical systems and diagnostics

· Air brake systems

· Commercial vehicle maintenance

· Experience performing DOT inspections and preventative maintenance programs preferred.

· Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues efficiently and accurately.

· Experience with cranes, heavy equipment, forklifts, tractors, trailers, generators, pressure washers, and air compressors is preferred.

· Must provide and maintain personal mechanic hand tools required to perform daily job duties. Employer will provide specialty tools, diagnostic equipment and large shop equipment.

· Toolboxes must be maintained in a safe and professional manner.

· Ability to effectively use diagnostic software, multimeters, hydraulic testing equipment and other industry-standard tools preferred.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. CDL preferred but not required.

· Must pass background screening and drug test.

· Ability to lift heavy components and work in various weather and field conditions.

Schedule:

· Monday through Friday (Hours TBD)

· Weekday overtime and occasional weekend work may be required.

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
