Job Type: Full-time, Hourly
Training Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Regular Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:00PM - 10:30PM
Differential: Includes 10% additional differential pay when working 2:00PM - 10:30PM.

About Pilgrim Aerospace Fasteners

Pilgrim Aerospace Fasteners is a precision aerospace manufacturing company specializing in small, highly engineered fasteners and components used in critical aerospace applications.

Our CNC department does not perform general-purpose or large-part machining. We manufacture small aerospace components from demanding materials such as titanium, Inconel, A286, stainless steel, and other aerospace-grade alloys. Parts must consistently meet strict blueprint, dimensional, surface-finish, and quality requirements.

Many product characteristics are held to tolerances measured in ten-thousandths of an inch—0.0001 inch—and, depending on the part, even tighter. Candidates must be experienced and comfortable working in this level of precision.

Position Summary

Pilgrim Aerospace Fasteners is seeking an experienced, hands-on Aerospace CNC Lead / Programmer to lead CNC production during 2nd shift.

This is not a supervisory-only position. The CNC Lead will be expected to actively:

Program CNC machinery
Perform complete machine setups
Operate and troubleshoot equipment
Inspect precision aerospace components
Support and train CNC operators
Make technical decisions necessary to keep production moving

The successful candidate will have advanced CNC machining knowledge and experience producing small, tight-tolerance metal components in an aerospace or similarly controlled precision-manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support CNC machining operations during 2nd shift
Program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC production equipment
Manufacture small aerospace fasteners and precision components to exact specifications
Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and specifications
Apply GD&T requirements and identify critical part characteristics
Complete machine setups, changeovers, tool changes, offsets, and program adjustments
Establish and adjust tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters for difficult aerospace materials
Inspect first-piece and in-process components using precision measuring equipment
Maintain dimensional tolerances measured in ten-thousandths of an inch
Identify tool wear, material variation, machine-performance issues, and process instability
Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, dimensional, and surface-finish problems
Support operators with machine operation, inspection methods, and production requirements
Verify that production documentation, inspection records, and setup information are completed accurately
Maintain compliance with company safety, quality, and production procedures
Communicate production status, quality concerns, equipment issues, and staffing needs to management
Help maintain an organized, accountable, and efficient 2nd-shift operation

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Minimum of three years of advanced CNC machining experience
Demonstrated experience independently programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment
Experience manufacturing small, highly detailed, tight-tolerance metal components
Ability to consistently work with tolerances measured in ten-thousandths of an inch
Experience reading complex blueprints, specifications, and geometric tolerancing requirements
Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, feeds, speeds, and cutting conditions
Ability to edit CNC programs and make adjustments at the machine control
Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment
Ability to troubleshoot dimensional, programming, setup, tooling, and machine-performance issues
Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving ability
Experience supporting, training, or directing CNC operators
Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
Reliable attendance and availability to work the assigned 2nd-shift schedule

Aerospace Experience Requirement

Candidates must have experience in aerospace, defense, medical-device, precision fastener, or another highly regulated tight-tolerance manufacturing environment.

General CNC machine-operation experience without responsibility for programming, complex setups, precision inspection, and process troubleshooting will not meet the requirements of this lead position.

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years of CNC machining experience
Previous experience as a CNC Lead, CNC Programmer, Setup Machinist, or Senior CNC Machinist
Direct aerospace fastener or small-component manufacturing experience
Experience machining titanium, Inconel, A286, stainless steel, nickel alloys, or similar difficult materials
Experience with CNC lathes, mills, Swiss-style machines, screw machines, or other small-part production equipment
Advanced understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
Experience working under AS9100, ISO 9001, or comparable quality-management requirements
Experience training and mentoring CNC operators
Ability to independently manage production and technical issues during an off shift
