Job Overview

Animal Assisted Counseling of Indiana (AACI) is seeking a compassionate Associate or Licensed Therapist to join our supportive private practice team in Munster, Indiana. AACI is a trauma-informed counseling and wellness-oriented practice that integrates animal-assisted therapy into the healing process while supporting emotional wellness, nervous system regulation, and overall well-being.

We work with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, emotional overwhelm, grief, relationship concerns, and life transitions. We are looking for a clinician who values authentic connection, emotional safety, and creating a calm, supportive therapeutic environment for clients.

This is a flexible part-time W-2 position offering the opportunity to grow within a collaborative private practice setting while focusing on meaningful clinical work without the burden of managing scheduling, billing, or marketing independently.

This is a fee-for-service W-2 position with compensation based on completed client sessions.

The ideal candidate is warm, relational, ethical, and motivated to help clients create lasting emotional growth and healing.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and clinical presentation
Provide individual, family, and/or adolescent therapy services utilizing evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches
Support clients in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, self-awareness, and healthier relational patterns
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with ethical and HIPAA standards
Collaborate within a supportive practice environment and seek consultation when clinically appropriate
Provide telehealth services as needed while maintaining quality client care
Contribute to a warm, welcoming, and emotionally safe therapeutic atmosphere for clients and families

Preferred Skills & Qualities

Experience or interest in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress management, and emotional wellness
Interest in trauma-informed and relationship-based therapy approaches
Comfortable working with children, adolescents, adults, and families
Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
Open to incorporating therapy animals into the therapeutic process
Ability to build rapport and maintain a compassionate, client-centered approach
Willingness to continue growing professionally within a collaborative practice setting

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related mental health field
Licensed or license-eligible in Indiana (LMHC, LMHCA, LCSW, LSW, or related)
Associate-level and fully licensed clinicians are encouraged to apply
