Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Attendant to provide essential support and assistance to individuals in various care settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents, demonstrating excellent caregiving skills, and maintaining a respectful, patient-centered approach. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring specialized memory or dementia care. The Personal Care Attendant will work closely with healthcare teams, residents, and their families to deliver personalized care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure residents' health stability.
Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all care activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's disease, employing behavior management techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and other mobility aids to promote safe transfers and prevent injuries.
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding when necessary while maintaining cleanliness in meal areas.
Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to foster a positive environment.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties in personal care homes or community settings.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals in long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home & community care environments to deliver comprehensive support.
Drive residents when required for appointments or outings in accordance with safety standards and licensing regulations.

Skills

Proven experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care environments with a focus on senior or disability care.
Knowledge of ADL assistance techniques, dementia care strategies, and behavior management methods.
Certification in first aid and CPR to respond effectively during emergencies.
Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring.
Experience operating EMR systems for documentation of care activities.
Ability to work compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments.
Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
Physical stamina to perform caregiving tasks involving lifting, transferring, or assisting residents with mobility devices like Hoyer lifts.
