Full Job Description

Job Summary

MountIQ Technologies is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Buyer/Estimator to support purchasing, quoting, supplier management, and production planning for precision-manufactured aerospace and defense components.

This position reviews customer requirements, develops accurate cost estimates, obtains supplier quotations, issues purchase orders, and ensures materials and outside services are available to meet production schedules. The ideal candidate understands manufacturing processes, technical drawings, supplier flow-down requirements, and the importance of quality and traceability in an AS9100 environment.

Responsibilities

Review requests for quotation, drawings, specifications, bills of material, and customer requirements.
Prepare labor, material, tooling, outside-processing, and lead-time estimates.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from material suppliers, machine shops, and special-process providers.
Compare pricing, delivery, quality history, certifications, capacity, and supplier risk.
Issue and maintain purchase orders for raw materials, components, tooling, and outside services.
Communicate applicable drawings, specifications, revisions, quality clauses, and customer requirements to suppliers.
Confirm supplier approvals and certifications, including Nadcap or customer-approved sources when required.
Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on late or at-risk deliveries.
Coordinate with engineering, quality, production, and management to resolve technical or delivery issues.
Maintain accurate cost, quotation, supplier, and purchasing records.
Review supplier performance, including product conformity, on-time delivery, corrective actions, and responsiveness.
Support supplier evaluation, approval, monitoring, and re-evaluation activities.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality, delivery, traceability, or customer requirements.
Assist with contract review, change-order pricing, and estimate updates.
Notify appropriate personnel of material shortages, supplier changes, cost increases, or schedule risks.
Perform other purchasing and estimating duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

[Two or more] years of experience in purchasing, estimating, supply-chain coordination, or manufacturing.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, assembly, finishing, heat treatment, plating, or nondestructive testing.
Ability to prepare accurate material, labor, outside-processing, and lead-time estimates.
Strong supplier negotiation and follow-up skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, email, and ERP or MRP systems.
Strong math, analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple quotations and purchase orders with changing priorities.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to product quality and on-time delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with AS9100D, ISO 9001 and ISO13485 requirements.
Knowledge of supplier approval, purchase-order flow-down, traceability, counterfeit-parts prevention, and record-retention requirements.
Familiarity with special processes and Nadcap-approved suppliers.
Experience with ERP and MRP systems.
Knowledge of GD&T, material specifications, and manufacturing routings.
Experience estimating CNC-machined or fabricated components.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
