We need a skilled communicator and fundraiser to help us tell our story, deepen donor relationships, and build the financial foundation for the next chapter of DCC’s mission.

The Role
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Part-Time | 20–24 hours per week
Location: Danville, CA (On site or hybrid, minimum 2 days on-site per week)
What You’ll Do
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Build and deepen relationships with individual donors through personalized cultivation, stewardship, and appreciation strategies.
- Proactively identify prospective donors and support outreach efforts that expand our giving community.
- Partner with the Executive Director and Board to activate networks and drive solicitation efforts.
- Assist with grant research, funding opportunity identification, and proposal preparation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, gift tracking, acknowledgements, and follow-up in our donor database.
Fundraising Strategy & Planning
- Help shape and execute a fundraising strategy aligned with DCC’s organizational goals.
- Prepare fundraising targets, plans, and budgets for Board review and approval.
- Coordinate early outreach with sponsors and major prospects ahead of key initiatives and events.
- Monitor and report on progress toward fundraising goals, keeping leadership informed and inspired.
Events & Sponsorship
- Support planning and execution of fundraising events, including ticketing, sponsor recognition, logistics, and attendee communications.
- Manage sponsor relationships, including tracking deliverables, logos, acknowledgements, and benefits.
- Support auction and revenue-generating event components, including donor solicitation and winner follow-up.
- Drive event-related marketing and social media.
Communications, Branding & Storytelling
- Develop and implement communications strategies that elevate DCC’s public profile and bring our mission to life.
- Create compelling content for newsletters, email appeals, social media, website updates, and the Annual Impact Report.
- Build and maintain a consistent, engaging social media presence.
- Identify and pursue media exposure opportunities, including earned media placements.
- Manage routine website content updates, including text, images, events, and announcements, to ensure DCC's site remains current and accurate. (Training provided, developer experience not required.)
Community Engagement & Organizational Support
- Build systems to capture and nurture new contacts from events and outreach activities.
- Support strategic community partnerships that further DCC’s mission and visibility.
- Help streamline development and communications processes for greater efficiency and impact.
- Collaborate across the organization to ensure aligned messaging and outreach efforts.
- Provide occasional cross-coverage support for administrative and front desk functions.
Who You Are
You are a seasoned development and communications professional who brings strategy, creativity, and a genuine passion for mission-driven work. You’re equally comfortable crafting a donor appeal, managing a fundraising event, and presenting to a Board and you take pride in doing all of it well.
You bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 2–5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, and/or development.
- Proven knowledge of grant writing, donor management, and event planning.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a natural instinct for storytelling and brand voice.
- Proficiency with donor management software and digital marketing/communications platforms.
- Solid command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- A highly organized, self-directed work style with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
- Comfort and confidence working with senior leadership and Board members.
- A deep commitment to DCC’s mission and a community-centered approach to everything you do.
- Comfort with or curiosity about website content management, such as experience making basic updates to a website (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or similar platforms) is a plus. A willingness to learn is what matters most.
