Full Job Description

Fort Lauderdale, FL | Hybrid | Reports to Chief Administrative Officer

Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 (depending on experience)

You’ll likely be a strong match if you bring:

CPA (preferred)
Solid experience in BOTH nonprofit and government accounting
Familiarity with State of Florida and local government funding
Comfort working in a highly regulated, statutorily created organization

Who We Are

We are a mission-driven organization delivering essential services, funded almost entirely (99%) through government sources. That means accountability, transparency, and precision are critical — but so is the ability to move quickly and solve real-world problems.

What You’ll Do

This is not a “sit back and review reports” Controller role. You’ll be in the middle of it all — leading, improving, solving.

You will:

Own and oversee accounting, banking, payroll, audits, and financial reporting
Lead expenditure projections and financial planning
Guide and develop a small, capable team of managers and staff
Partner closely with the CAO on:
Budget development
Financial analysis
Board reporting and presentations
Serve as a key point of contact for funding agencies and government partners
Ensure everything we do meets regulatory and funding requirements

What You Bring

Strong background in nonprofit and government-related accounting
Experience managing government funding streams (especially Florida-based is a plus)
Confidence leading audits, compliance, and financial reporting
Proven ability to lead and develop a team
Comfort working in a high-accountability, regulated environment

Nice to Have

CPA
Experience in quasi-governmental or statutorily created organizations
Familiarity with grant funding and compliance-heavy operations

Compensation, Flexibility & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 – $150,000, depending on experience
