Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant and Payroll specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions, oversee payroll processing, and ensure accurate financial record-keeping in compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health, facilitate timely reporting, and maintain seamless payroll operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization with a collaborative and energetic work environment. Must have experience in construction industry.

Duties

Maintain accurate general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation using various accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems
Process payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations while managing payroll records and employee data
Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely payments and collections
Reconcile bank statements regularly through bank reconciliation procedures to verify account accuracy
Prepare detailed financial reports, including financial statement writing, budget analysis, and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) compliance
Conduct governmental accounting tasks as needed, including tax reporting and non-profit accounting requirements
Support internal audits by maintaining meticulous records of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions
Update quarterly WIP
Assist PM in monthly contract billing for projects, including releases and waivers

Requirements

Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance roles with familiarity in double entry bookkeeping principles and debits & credits management
Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, Word and other Microsoft Software
Strong understanding of corporate accounting standards as well as non-profit or governmental accounting practices where applicable
Experience with payroll processing systems and related tax compliance requirements
Ability to perform account reconciliation tasks accurately and efficiently using spreadsheets or specialized accounting systems
Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting concepts for accurate financial reporting
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks such as bank reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and budget management simultaneously
Strong attention to detail with proficiency in 10-key typing for data entry accuracy
Effective communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating with team members
