Kitchen Manager — LaPlante Communities

Wage: $23–25/hr, depending on experience and training

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary operations. In this vital role, you will oversee all aspects of food preparation, kitchen management, team leadership, training, and ordering to ensure exceptional service delivery. Your experience will help maintain food safety, quality, and efficiency while fostering a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and food production processes to ensure timely and quality service.
Supervise and train kitchen staff on food safety protocols and culinary techniques.
Oversee inventory control, including ordering supplies, managing stock levels, and minimizing waste to optimize food costs.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
Lead staff scheduling, shift management, and performance evaluations to maintain a motivated and efficient team.
Conduct staff training on customer service excellence, food safety management, and managerial communication skills.
Analyze profit and loss reports to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth within kitchen operations.

Skills

Love working with people and training staff — a must!
Experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within fast-paced or casual dining environments.
Proficiency with POS systems for order processing and freight.
Background in inventory control, food safety management, and food handling procedures.
Proven leadership skills in supervising teams, training staff, and managing hospitality teams effectively.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, including shift management and budget oversight.
Exceptional communication skills for team management, interviewing potential staff, and collaborating across departments.
Knowledge of catering, banquet operations, or bar experience is a plus for diverse culinary settings.

Requirements

CPR/First Aid certification (we can help you get this)
Manager's Food Handler's Permit (within 14 days of hire)
Must be able to speak, read, and write (document) in English fluently
Willingness to complete company-provided training in mental health, dementia, developmental disabilities, and therapeutic options within 60 days
Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check per WA State DSHS requirements (prefer over 21)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
A professional, motivated positive attitude and a passion for high-quality care
