Full Job Description

The CURE Center for Ultrasound Research and Education is seeking a motivated individual to manage the externship portion of a 2 year Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Clinical Site Manager, RDMS, RVT, RDCS preferred

Position Summary

The Clinical Site Manager is responsible for cultivating and sustaining strong partnerships with healthcare facilities that host CURE externship students across sonography specialties. This role ensures that all clinical affiliation agreements are current, fully executed, and reflective of the shared responsibilities of the school, the clinical site, and the student in delivering a comprehensive, hands-on educational experience.

The Clinical Site Manager maintains ongoing communication and collaborative relationships with radiology department directors, technologists, site supervisors, and other clinical leadership. The Manager will conduct site visits and oversee faculty-led evaluations to monitor student progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with the Program Director for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. This oversight guarantees that each student receives a high‑quality clinical experience that meets both ultrasound registry standards and institutional requirements—an essential component of the externship program’s success.

Additionally, the Clinical Site Manager will supervise a team of site developers responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing new clinical partnerships that expand opportunities for students to gain meaningful, real‑world experience in ultrasound.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Program Director for the Ultrasound Program, the Clinical Externship Manager is responsible for (including but not limited to):

Collaborate with the campus leadership to identify clinical placement needs for students.
Oversee the appointment and deployment of faculty who will visit externship sites based on their registry specialties to evaluate overall student proficiency and preparedness.
Identify, recruit, and establishing collaborative relationship with clinical/practicum sites.
Maintain current and establish new ultrasound student affiliation agreements with sites in the New York Metropolitan area as well as other locations.
Submit requests to clinical agencies for student clinical site placements.
Respond to inquiries from clinical agencies regarding planned student clinical site placements.
Provide clinical agencies with course related information and expected clinical student learning outcomes.
Assign students to outcome appropriate sites related to the registry(s) they wish to pursue.
Conduct daily/weekly site visits to clinical sites and assess student progress while at the site.
Coordinate collection and evaluation of student and site supervisor survey and submits data to the Campus Registrar and Program Director.
Complete site viability studies before site is approved as a potential clinical site.
Schedule and notify students of clinical site rotations as well as site specific requirements for onboarding.
Prepare other orientation documents for all students each quarter.
Collect all attendance logs ensuring they are complete including signature and dates from the appropriate supervisor.
Monitor and report clinical clearance records for students (i.e.: CPR certification, background checks, health and immunization requirements).
Oversee the evaluation process of student performance.
Perform other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates with more than one registry are desired for this position however it is not required. Bachelor degree desired but applicants with a combination of education and experience will also be considered. Candidate must have a minimum 3 years of verifiable DMS field experience in one or more of the following specialties: Abdominal Sonography (ABD); Obstetrics and Gynecology Sonography (OB/GYN); Vascular Sonography (VT); or Adult Echocardiography (RDCS/RCS). Applicants with MSK registry are also encouraged to apply. Experience in teaching methodology; supervision, instruction, evaluation and guidance while not mandatory is strongly preferred. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is desired and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage working relationships. In addition, you need strong planning and organizing abilities to set up and manage the clinical rotation. A professional attitude and passion for helping students are also essential based on the prominent role you play.

Classification: Exempt

Travel: Travel to sites is an essential part of the Clinical Site Manager role.
