Full Job Description

Building Engineer. A well-established real estate company is seeking an experienced building engineer. Must be a positive, friendly, team-oriented self-starter and have a strong, customer-service, “can-do” attitude. The Building Engineer will ensure the effective operation and upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across assigned properties. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe work environment, conducting routine inspections and system assessments, performing daily preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, and supporting general upkeep activities.

Job Responsibilities:

· Perform plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance across building systems

· Check Energy Management System in the morning and throughout the day to ensure HVAC systems are running properly

· Repair general building components (doors, ceilings, handrails, keys, locking mechanisms, etc.)

· Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures (toilets, flush valves, sinks, etc.)

· Perform preventive maintenance per company standards or manufacturer guidelines

· Comply with company’s operating and safety policies as well as all federal, state or local laws relating to the properties

· Respond to works orders and close out completed work orders

· Respond promptly to emergencies and tenants' concerns with a positive and professional image

· Collaborate with the Property Manager to arrange for contractors/vendors when repairs are required

· Escort vendors and contractors within the building and tenant spaces

· Monitor work by outside contractors to ensure that work is completed satisfactorily and according to required specifications

· Maintain records relevant to building operations partnering with Property Manager to ensure smooth operations

· Manage shop cleanliness and supply inventory to support efficient maintenance operations and reduce waste

· Identify areas to reduce costs

· Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism

· High level of attention to detail, initiative and follow-through required

· Maintain a professional appearance and comply with uniform standards

· Answer emergency calls after normal coverage and weekends when scheduled for on-call duty.

· Experience with HVAC, boilers, pumps, and energy management systems a plus

· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Trade school or apprenticeship program preferred

CFC Certification preferred

State license

5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial setting

Other Skills and Abilities

Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Ability to lift 50 lbs., stoop, climb, crouch, reach

Strong knowledge of building systems and repair

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
