Full Job Description

Chamlin, Uliano & Walsh is an established civil litigation and general practice firm on the Jersey Shore, handling personal injury, criminal defense, estate planning and litigation, labor and employment, and general civil matters throughout New Jersey. We are in a season of intentional growth and are building the leadership infrastructure to match. This role is part of that build.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created leadership position. The Director of Client Development will own the entire front end of the client journey — from first inquiry through signed retention — and will serve as a full member of our leadership team. You will be responsible for ensuring no lead goes unanswered, no follow-up falls through the cracks, and that prospective clients experience a firm that is responsive, organized, and worth hiring.

You will work directly with the firm's managing attorney and have visibility into firm-wide growth strategy. This is not a support role. It is a seat at the table.

Core Responsibilities

Lead management and intake

Own the firm's Go High Level CRM — pipeline setup, stage management, contact records, and reporting
Ensure every inbound inquiry (phone, web form, referral) is captured, logged, and enters a structured follow-up workflow
Serve as the firm's first live voice for new client inquiries — conducting initial intake calls personally, gathering the information attorneys need to evaluate a matter, and creating a strong first impression of the firm.
Track lead source data and report monthly on volume, conversion rates, and pipeline health

Follow-up and conversion

Execute proactive, systematic follow-up with prospective clients across all practice areas
Manage communication with leads who have not yet retained the firm — persistent, professional, and never pushy
Identify and address friction points in the intake process that cause prospective clients to disengage
Coordinate with attorneys to ensure timely consultations and prompt retainer delivery

CRM and systems ownership

Maintain Go High Level as the authoritative record of all pre-retention activity
Build and refine automated follow-up sequences for different practice areas and lead types
Manage the handoff from Go High Level to Practice Panther when a matter is opened
Train and hold staff accountable to CRM discipline and intake protocols

Leadership team participation

Attend and contribute to firm leadership meetings with data on pipeline activity and conversion trends
Collaborate on marketing and outreach initiatives to generate and nurture referral relationships
Bring an external perspective on client experience and communicate frankly about what is and is not working

What We Are Looking For

We are not looking for someone with a law firm background. We are looking for someone with a genuine gift for follow-up, a systems-oriented mind, and the energy to own a function from scratch. The right candidate may come from fitness management, hospitality, financial services, real estate, or any environment where building and converting a client pipeline was part of the job.

Specifically, we are looking for:

A track record of managing a client or member pipeline in a service environment
Genuine comfort with CRM platforms — you have lived inside one, not just used it occasionally
The kind of follow-up instinct that does not need to be asked twice: you send the email, you make the call, you close the loop
Strong written and verbal communication — you represent the firm before clients have ever met an attorney
Organizational discipline and attention to process — you build systems, not workarounds
The confidence to sit in a leadership meeting and tell attorneys what the data says, even when it is uncomfortable

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Go High Level or a comparable marketing CRM (HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, etc.)
Experience in a professional services or regulated industry environment
Exposure to Practice Panther or a similar legal case management platform
