Lifecycle Marketing Manager – Retention & CRM
Remote | Contract-to-Part-Time | U.S. Based Preferred
About eCare Behavioral Health Institute
eCare Behavioral Health Institute is a fast-growing continuing education provider serving licensed mental health professionals.
Our acquisition engine works. Now we're building the other half of the customer journey.
We are looking for an experienced Lifecycle Marketing Manager to build and own the programs that turn course buyers into members, members into long-term customers, and past customers into repeat buyers.
This is a unique retention environment: the professionals we serve are required to complete continuing education to maintain their licenses. That gives us a recurring, deadline-driven customer need and an opportunity to build highly relevant lifecycle experiences around license renewal, continuing education requirements, membership, and professional development.
You won't be starting from zero. Customer research, retention reporting, program specifications, developer support, and an established customer base are already in place.
What we need now is someone who can take ownership and build.
What You'll Own
You'll be responsible for the key numbers behind our customer lifecycle, including:
- Customer lifetime value
- Repeat purchase rate
- Customer-to-membership conversion
- Membership renewal rate
- Trial signup and trial-to-paid conversion
- Customer retention and win-back
- Overall customer and membership experience
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. We're looking for someone who can identify an opportunity, analyze the data, build the flow, write the copy, coordinate technical requirements with developers, launch it, and measure the result.
Phase 1: Build the Retention Engine
First 3 months | Approximately 30–35 hours/week
Your initial focus will be standing up the lifecycle and retention function.
You'll:
- Replace broad email broadcasts with segmented, behavior-triggered lifecycle programs in Klaviyo
- Build a license-renewal lifecycle program based on renewal timing and continuing education requirements
- Build customer-to-membership conversion journeys
- Create trial activation, conversion, and cancellation flows
- Launch customer and member referral programs
- Build win-back programs for lapsed customers and members
- Complete our Mailchimp-to-Klaviyo migration while protecting segmentation, data mapping, deliverability, and flow performance
- Turn existing churn research into prioritized, measurable improvements
- Partner directly with developers to implement technical retention initiatives
- Own the retention dashboard alongside our data engineer and establish clear performance baselines
- Help improve the customer dashboard and membership experience
- Document the programs you build so they can be managed efficiently long-term
We expect you to ship during the first month—not spend three months creating a strategy deck.
Phase 2: Optimize & Grow
Ongoing | Approximately 15–20 hours/week
Once the core retention infrastructure is built, the role transitions into ongoing ownership and optimization.
You'll:
- Report retention performance to the CEO each month
- Continuously test and improve lifecycle programs
- Analyze customer cohorts and refine segmentation
- Identify new upsell, certification, and membership opportunities
- Improve the customer and member experience
- Expand successful retention programs
- Maintain documentation and systems that can operate efficiently at part-time hours
What We're Looking For
You are a lifecycle marketer who likes owning both the strategy and the execution.
You don't need an agency or junior marketer to build your flows. You can get inside the platform yourself, figure out what's happening in the data, develop a hypothesis, ship something, and determine whether it worked.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in lifecycle, retention, CRM, or subscription marketing
- Experience working with a subscription, membership, or recurring-revenue business
- Personally built multi-step, behavior-triggered lifecycle flows in Klaviyo or a comparable platform such as Braze, Iterable, or Customer.io
- Strong understanding of segmentation, behavioral triggers, lifecycle timing, and customer journeys
- Comfortable analyzing your own performance data using a BI platform, SQL, advanced spreadsheets, or similar tools
- Experience owning and improving measurable retention metrics
- Strong email and lifecycle copywriting skills
- Comfortable working directly with developers, writing requirements, testing implementations, and driving projects through completion
- Working knowledge of WordPress and WooCommerce
- Understanding of email deliverability fundamentals
- Able to work independently without waiting for a fully developed playbook
- Availability for approximately 30–35 hours/week during the initial three-month build phase
- Open to transitioning into an ongoing part-time role after the build is completed
We'd Be Especially Interested If You Have
- SaaS retention or activation experience
- Subscription or membership marketing experience
- Experience with free trials, activation, cancellation, churn, or dunning
- Experience building referral programs
- Education, e-learning, professional certification, or continuing education experience
- Experience with compliance-driven or deadline-based customer renewal cycles
- Voice-of-customer research experience
- Experience migrating ESPs without disrupting lifecycle performance
- GA4, PostHog, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar product analytics experience
- SMS lifecycle marketing experience
- Experience using AI tools for research, analysis, or content development
- A genuine interest in mental health, education, or serving licensed professionals
Our Tech Stack
Our current ecosystem includes:
- Klaviyo
- WordPress
- WooCommerce
- LearnDash
- BI/reporting tools
You'll work directly with our CEO, development partner, data engineer, and copywriter.
There aren't multiple layers of approvals here. Good ideas can move quickly from analysis to implementation.

- Measurable improvement in at least two major lifecycle metrics
How to Apply
Show us the work.
Along with your application, tell us about one retention or lifecycle program you personally built.
We'd especially like to know:
- What triggered the program?
- Who entered the flow?
- What did you build?
- What metric were you trying to change?
- What happened after you launched it?
Please also include a writing sample that represents work you personally wrote.
Specific examples and measurable results matter more to us than polished marketing language.
If you've been waiting for the opportunity to build and own a lifecycle function instead of simply executing someone else's roadmap, we'd like to hear from you.
