Leadon Family Foundation | Remote, Independent Contractor

Company Description

The Leadon Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on youth entrepreneurship, startup innovation, and collaborative philanthropy. We provide grants, interest-free loans, and mentorship to emerging entrepreneurs — especially individuals ages 13 to 25 — who are building socially impactful ventures. We support startups across technology, sustainability, education, the arts, and community development, and partner with other 501(c)(3) organizations working in youth development, financial literacy, and inclusive entrepreneurship. Our goal is a thriving network of youth founders, mentors, and philanthropists committed to long-term economic empowerment and generational change.

About Us

The Leadon Family Foundation is a Public-Benefit Non-Profit Corporation affiliated with the Leadon Family Foundation Trust, a 501(c)(3) Public Charity (EIN: 41-6789320). We are currently in Phase 3 (Initial Funding via Incoming Grants) of our five-phase establishment plan, with Organizational Design and Federal Tax-Exempt Status already complete.

We are building a nonprofit charitable foundation comprised of investors and entrepreneurs as members, providing a support structure for start-up founders and underprivileged yet gifted youth and young entrepreneurs deemed to be a defining force for tomorrow’s business or charitable landscape — to empower “greater entrepreneurship through innovation in our local communities for the next generation.”

The Leadon Family Foundation seeks to establish a thriving ecosystem for business and non-profit young leaders across funding access, investor networking, access to co-founders, mentorship, and affordable academic programs through affiliated online universities.

Our Founder

Charlie Leadon founded the Leadon Family Foundation in June 2025, driven by the need for greater entrepreneurship among young people, more financial education, and affordable, quality university education for all. Charlie serves as Sole Trustee for Life of the Leadon Family Foundation Trust and President of the Foundation.

Where We Stand

The Foundation currently maintains an estimated 201 outstanding grant applications, representing roughly $30M in requested funding. Our internal probability-weighted estimate for realistic proceeds from the existing pipeline over 2026-2027 and beyond is approximately $500,000 — a planning estimate, not a guarantee.

Role Description

The Grant Writer prepares and submits grant applications sourced by our research team and maintains outstanding submissions through the review process. This role is central to our Phase 3 strategy of maintaining a large, active pipeline of applications. Responsibilities include drafting compelling, accurate proposals aligned with our mission; tailoring applications to each funder’s requirements; tracking submission status and following up as needed; and coordinating with the Committee Chair and Vice Chair on messaging and reporting.

Who We’re Looking For

We want writers who can make a funder feel our mission, not just read about it — which means we’re looking for people who genuinely feel it themselves. If empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs is something you’d want to do even outside a job, that’s the alignment we’re after. We’re looking for confident, capable writers who can carry an application from blank page to submission with minimal oversight, and who take real ownership of their win rate.

Qualifications

Demonstrated grant-writing experience, ideally with 501(c)(3) organizations or institutional funders. Excellent written communication skills; ability to write persuasively and accurately under deadline. Organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple concurrent submissions. Knowledge of nonprofit compliance and reporting expectations a plus. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Compensation

Per-application fee plus a percentage of any funds awarded from applications the writer authored, capped per Foundation policy. Rates and caps discussed at interview; potential for advancement to Corporate/Institutional Relations or Vice Chair roles. Note: compensation structure is subject to final review to ensure compliance with applicable state charitable-solicitation regulations.

Pay: $60,186.18 - $970,000.00 per year
