This EE role is supported by a team of industrial professionals, including:

Engineering: Collaborate with our estimating, design, and applications team to develop winning proposals.
Trade Teams: seasoned foremen, supervisors, and skilled trade professionals are mission-driven, dependable, and communicative.
Sales: The business development team consults with the EE to achieve winning proposals, a smooth transition implementation, and satisfied clients.
Project Management: The PM team meets regularly to collaborate, strategize, and discuss strategies for achieving and maintaining quality and efficiency.

SilMan in the Marketplace: Depth and Breadth of Performance

SilMan Industries is a leading system integration company and is a licensed general contractor in 40+ states. Our team has built a deep portfolio working with leading distribution companies, manufacturers, and municipalities. As an EE, you will continue this legacy by supporting projects such as Multi-site system design and integration for OnTrac; National program for leading automated singulation solution; Pack-out system for ThredUP; Shipping system for Levi Strauss.

Service Area and Residence

The EE role is remote/hybrid/in-office, based in either of SilMan’s offices in Warren, Michigan, or Tupelo, Mississippi, to support SilMan’s national footprint.

Travel

Travel will be required for this role, including, but not limited to, project sites, factory training, installation inspections, and system commissioning. Travel is not expected to exceed 35% annually and is subject to approval by the Team Leader.

What does the Electrical Estimator do?

The EE is responsible for defining the scope for electrical installation projects. Working from conceptual layouts, equipment lists, and customer discussions, the estimator develops installation concepts, determines required electrical infrastructure, and prepares comprehensive project estimates.

Respond to customer RFQs and prepare estimates for industrial electrical installation projects
Review equipment layouts, specifications, and customer discussions to define project requirements.
Develop electrical installation scopes from conceptual customer requirements where complete electrical drawings do not exist.
Collaborate with customers, project managers, and engineering teams to establish the basis of design for installation projects.
Determine power distribution, motor control, conduit, cable tray, wiring, grounding, and field installation requirements.
Create Bill of Materials and labor estimates
Identify scope gaps, assumptions, and engineering considerations during the quotation process.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, technical documentation, as well as RFP/RFQ documentation
Excel / Spreadsheet proficiency
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, installation methods, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., NEC).
Familiarity with PLC systems, particularly Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platforms (understanding architecture, components, and estimating associated costs).

And hands-on experience and understanding with the following:

120/208 V, 277/480 V AC power systems
Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Electrical one-line diagrams
Panel schedules
Raceway and conduit systems
NEC code compliance
Electrical takeoffs and labor estimating
Vendor and subcontractor quotation management
Electrical installation in industrial manufacturing/construction environments

Compensation

SilMan’s compensation packages are carefully customized based on the candidate’s experience, geographic location, and current market considerations. Our competitive base salary ranges are researched and benchmarked against peer companies at a similar growth stage. The base salary offer will depend on various factors, including experience and other job-related skills.

Job Location: Remote. The EE may expect 25% travel.

Daily Life: Home base for the EE can be either Warren, Michigan or Tupelo, Mississippi. Primary office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Central Time.
