Millwork Estimator:

Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal

100% Remote | Full-Time, Monday–Friday

Pay: $65,000 – $90,000 per year, based on experience

About Dovetail

Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal is an architectural fabrication firm based in Del Valle, Texas. We build high-end custom millwork, metalwork, and stone in-house for some of the most demanding commercial projects in the country. Our work shows up in luxury hotels, upscale condominiums, fine dining restaurants, tower lobbies, and Class A office spaces.

This is a senior, remote estimating seat. You will be working on complex, high-profile projects valued between $300,000 and $10 million, directly with company leadership and our Estimating Manager.

What You Will Do

Estimate and bid custom millwork, metal, and stone scopes. Analyze drawing packages, spec books, and project documentation to develop precise, strategic bids.
Run takeoffs and cost analysis in Innergy and Excel to produce detailed, defensible estimates.
Identify risks, alternates, and long-lead items. Surface scope gaps and pricing exposure before they become change orders.
Manage RFIs and scope clarifications with General Contractors, Architects, and Designers.
Lead scope review and bid leveling meetings. Represent Dovetail in negotiations and post-bid walkthroughs.
Coordinate clean handoffs to Project Management and Operations on awarded work.

What You Must Have

Innergy experience. Required. 2+ years of hands-on Innergy estimating preferred.
5+ years of estimating experience in custom architectural millwork. Metal, stone, and upholstery exposure is a plus.
Strong command of architectural drawings, elevations, spec books, and construction documentation.
Proficiency in Excel and digital takeoff.
Ability to manage multiple active bids without dropping detail.
Strong written and verbal communication with GCs, Architects, and Designers.
Self-directed in a fully remote setting, with the discipline to stay engaged with the team and deadlines.

Recommended

Prior work as a Lead or Senior Estimator on commercial millwork packages above $1M.
Experience bidding hospitality, multifamily, or Class A commercial interiors.
Familiarity with stone and architectural metal scopes.

Compensation and Benefits

$65,000 – $90,000 per year, based on experience.
