We are looking for someone to work under general supervision of the HUB Program Manager. The Health Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and supporting health and safety services across family childcare and center-based early learning programs. This role ensures compliance with ECEAP health standards, delivers health-related training and technical assistance, and provides individualized support to providers and families. The Health Coordinator monitors medical, dental, and developmental care compliance; and strengthens provider capacity through site visits.
Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate health documentation, delivering parent education, supporting the development and implementation of health and safety policies, and coordinating with healthcare professionals and community resources. The Health Coordinator also conducts site monitoring to ensure safe learning environments and supports CACFP compliance efforts through technical assistance and training. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to culturally responsive practices in service of children’s well-being.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Health Coordinator will have specific responsibilities that will include, but may not be limited to:
Health Services & Compliance:
- Collect health records and ensure completion of medical, dental, wellness exams, immunizations; allergies, etc of all enrolled children.
- Ensure that current policies and procedures are maintained on the monitoring of health and safety practices, child abuse and neglect, child allergies, disaster plans, exclusion of sick children and staff, health and safety inspections, infectious disease prevention, medication management, pesticide/herbicide management (RCW 17.21), transportation, and plans for handling medical, dental, and poison emergencies.
- Monitor, inspect and train as it relates to various safety inspections, including: indoor/outdoor safety, food safety, emergency preparedness, classroom environment.
- Conduct site visits to ensure sufficient monitoring of child safety, facilities safety, and provider observation areas, ensuring to communicate findings with providers via written plans.
- Facilitate site visits to review CACFP compliance, providing technical support when necessary and following up with additional resources to build provider capacity.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, and training to CACFP participants to enhance their understanding of program requirements, best practices, and reporting procedures.
Data & Documentation:
- Track and maintain accurate documentation as it relates to health referrals, rescreens, treatment progress, outgoing needs, developmental concerns, etc., relaying to providers and parents as needed.
- Collect and maintain safety records, including information on emergency drills, and inspection records for smoke detectors, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of site monitoring visits, relaying all pertinent compliance issues with program manager.
- Administer designated assessment tools in diverse environments.
- Comply with all required data collection, reporting requirements, activities, progress reports, and other required documentation within the designated timeframe.
Administrative:
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with healthcare providers and organizations.
- Support FCC and center-based providers to establish a Health Advisory Committee that meets ECEAP standards.
- Assist the Health Advisory Committee to develop a plan to implement and monitor health services including requirements related to health, safety, and nutrition; confidentiality protocols; classroom health curriculum; and parent education.
- Demonstrate and model clear communication skills and reflective practices with teachers, childcare providers, and other staff.
- Demonstrate familiarity with community resources available to childcare providers, staff, and families in the designated counties.
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas of practice, including staff, childcare providers, clients and their families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in a Health, Early Childhood, Education, or related field
- A minimum of two years working with young children in a group setting.
- Experience as an early learning health coordinator, consultant, or trainer.
- Bi-lingual ability (Somali and English) preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate sensitively to adults and children from diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups
- Proficiency in oral and written English language
- Proficiency with computer software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
