Full Job Description

About Us:

The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Our corporate office is in Livingston, NJ, and we have programs in Essex County.

The Early Intervention team at the Shapiro Center comprises of early childhood specialists who work together with parents and other family members to maximize the growth and development of children by supporting the advancement of motor, communication, and social skills.

Job Summary:

We are currently hiring for Casual and LLC Social Workers to join the Shapiro Center team. This position is in a natural environment e.g. home-based, day-care etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess family needs and strengths from information gathered during IFSP process and other contacts with family
Act as liaison between parents and community resources
Locate community resources, making appropriate referrals and necessary follow-up to assist parents in securing various social services
Function as an advocate relative to community and educational resources, as needed
Maintain accurate and current social service reports and session notes on each family on an ongoing basis
Provide individual counseling and/or educational programming for parents
Follow goals and outcomes from the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
Attend 6 month and annual review meetings for children on their caseload, and other meetings as needed
Maintain contact with families to keep them involved in the program as well as to provide information regarding current topics, progress, and goals
Maintain contact with other therapists to provide comprehensive treatment
Work independently to schedule cases and travel within the service area
Provide appropriate paperwork including but not limited to session notes, progress summary reports, billing, and attendance information

Education / Work Experience / Skills:

Must be Certified or Licensed Social Worker with the State of NJ
Minimum 1 year working experience with individuals from birth to five years of age who have developmental delays and disabilities
Valid NJ Driver’s License with the ability to become and remain covered under the agency’s insurance policy

LLC Requirements:

Workers' Comp and Liability Insurance required

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 per hour
