Parts Specialist / Assistant Service Advisor

Compensation

Salary: $4,000 per month
Plus 1% Dept. Profit (GP)

Position Summary

Grote Automotive is seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Parts Specialist to join our Service Department. This position is responsible for managing daily parts operations while serving as the backup to our Service Advisor during vacations, busy periods, and other absences.

The ideal candidate enjoys multitasking, has excellent customer service skills, understands automotive parts, and thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Primary ResponsibilitiesParts Department (Primary Role)

Order, receive, stock, and organize automotive parts.
Source parts from vendors while maintaining competitive pricing.
Process returns, warranties, and core returns.
Maintain accurate inventory counts and participate in cycle counts.
Pull and stage parts for technicians.
Ensure technicians receive the correct parts promptly.
Communicate with vendors regarding availability and delivery.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts department.
Monitor inventory levels and recommend stock orders.
Assist with purchasing and inventory control.

Service Advisor Backup Duties

When needed, serve as backup for the Service Advisor by:

Greeting customers professionally.
Scheduling service appointments.
Writing repair orders.
Communicating repair recommendations and estimates.
Obtaining customer approvals.
Keeping customers informed throughout the repair process.
Closing repair orders accurately.
Coordinating vehicle delivery.
Maintaining accurate documentation in the dealership management system.

Qualifications

Automotive dealership experience preferred.
Parts department experience strongly preferred.
Service advisor experience is a plus.
Strong computer skills and ability to learn dealership software.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Preferred Experience

Experience with:

Dealertrack DMS
Parts ordering systems
Automotive repair terminology
Customer Pay, Warranty, and Internal Repair Orders

Keep technicians supplied with the right parts quickly.
Help maintain efficient shop workflow.
Deliver outstanding customer service.
Accurately manage inventory and repair orders.
Step into the Service Advisor role seamlessly whenever needed.
