Job Summary

Duties

Prepare ingredients and assist with food prep tasks such as chopping, portioning, and organizing supplies to ensure efficient kitchen workflow
Cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards, including techniques like grilling, braising, poaching, and food production methods
Operate various kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, grills, fryers, and sanitizing tools
Maintain strict adherence to food safety protocols and sanitizing procedures to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and guests
Support the dietary department by understanding menu planning requirements and assisting with meal preparation for special dietary needs
Handle dishwashing duties efficiently while maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen area
Assist with food handling and food safety management practices during high-volume production periods to meet quality standards

Skills

Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating strong food handling and safety practices
Knowledge of culinary techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and general food preparation skills
Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in meal presentation
Experience with high-volume production environments requiring quick turnaround times
Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking methods including sautéing and meal assembly
Understanding of food safety sanitizing procedures and proper food handling protocols
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
Previous dietary aide or dietary department experience is a plus, especially related to menu planning or catering services
