Job Description - Banquet Sous Chef - Anthology Events

As the Banquet Sous Chef, you support the Executive Banquet Chef with the supervision of all BOH team members and the seamless execution of events. You will be accountable for overall success of the daily kitchen operations and personally perform tasks while leading the rest of the BOH team, making your ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously crucial. You will support the Executive Banquet Chef by ensuring all kitchen areas are maintain to company and food safety standards and that only high-quality product is produced.

Duties & Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Be an integral part of daily kitchen operations
Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless coordination and presentation of dishes to guests.
Support Executive Banquet Chef in controlling labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control
Support leadership by updating and maintaining accurate recipe documentation and costing
Execute inventory based on company policies and standards
Ensure that all kitchen equipment, including sinks, stoves, hoods, freezers, etc. are in proper operational condition and are clean and maintained to company and health safety standards
Ensure all kitchen areas and related storage areas are clean and organized at all times
Support the resolution of any employee conflict and/or performance concerns that may arise
Fully understand the standards of large-scale event service, and be committed to teaching/expressing these standards to all BOH team members
Responsible for overseeing all scheduling within an assigned department
Support Executive Banquet Chef with recruiting job applicants and candidate interviews
Responsible for team performance, morale & productivity
Give clear direction, coaching and mentorship to BOH team members
Expedite food during events
All other reasonable job duties as directed by supervisors

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as Banquet Sous Chef or similar role in a hotel or banquet setting.
Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
Proficient in menu costing, inventory management, and food cost control.
Up-to-date knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any task!

Working Conditions/Environment:

The person having this position may have to stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day.

The person having this responsibility may have to move, pull, carry, or lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
