About ZenTech Consulting

ZenTech Consulting is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney on behalf of a growing insurance defense practice in the St. Petersburg, Florida area.

The firm focuses on premises liability, construction defect, general liability, and third-party claims and takes a different approach to insurance defense by intentionally maintaining smaller caseloads. This allows attorneys the time, resources, and support needed to thoroughly evaluate each matter and develop effective litigation strategies.

We are seeking passionate, motivated, and conscientious attorneys who genuinely enjoy litigation and want to continue developing their skills as advocates and trial attorneys.

Associate and Partner-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of practical civil defense litigation experience, with a strong preference for attorneys who have handled general liability defense and third-party matters.

Unlike traditional insurance defense practices where attorneys may manage an overwhelming volume of files, attorneys with this firm typically handle approximately 15 cases at a time.

This structure provides attorneys with the opportunity to:

Take true ownership of their cases
Develop thoughtful litigation strategies
Work closely with clients and claims professionals
Spend more time preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial
Build stronger relationships with clients and opposing counsel
Develop their skills as litigators and trial attorneys
Manage matters from inception through resolution

We are seeking attorneys who are proactive, organized, highly engaged, and genuinely interested in becoming better defense lawyers.

Key Responsibilities

Manage approximately 15 premises liability, construction defect, and general liability defense matters
Develop and execute case strategies from assignment through resolution
Conduct legal research and analysis
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, correspondence, and other legal documents
Propound, respond to, and manage written discovery
Take and defend depositions
Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and settlement considerations
Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other parties
Participate in mediations, hearings, court proceedings, and other litigation activities
Prepare matters for trial and participate in trial proceedings
Maintain proactive communication and effective case management
Identify opportunities to improve litigation strategy and outcomes
Continue developing legal, advocacy, and trial skills through hands-on experience

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active Florida Bar membership and in good standing
Minimum 3 years of practical civil defense litigation experience
General liability and/or third-party defense experience strongly preferred
Premises liability experience preferred
Construction defect experience is a plus
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Strong attention to detail
Ability to independently manage litigation matters
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of case strategy and outcomes
Genuine interest in litigation and professional development
Desire to become a stronger advocate and trial attorney

Associate & Partner-Level Opportunities

The firm is open to attorneys at multiple levels of experience, including Associate and Partner-level candidates.

We are particularly interested in attorneys who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to civil defense litigation and who want an environment where they can take ownership of their cases while continuing to build their litigation and trial skills.

Work Arrangement

The firm strongly prefers an on-site attorney who can collaborate directly with the team and take advantage of the firm's hands-on approach.

Remote opportunities may be considered for exceptional candidates, particularly attorneys who demonstrate:

Stable employment history
Several years of recent, direct general liability defense experience
Strong third-party defense experience
Proven ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
Excellent communication and case-management skills
A demonstrated commitment to insurance defense litigation

Compensation & Benefits

$125,000–$200,000+ salary based on experience, qualifications, and level of responsibility
No salary cap

Target Compensation by Experience

1–2 years: $120,000–$130,000
3–5 years: $135,000–$150,000
6–9 years: $155,000–$175,000
10+ years: $180,000–$200,000+
Exceptional Partner-level candidates: $200,000+ / negotiable
