Full Job Description

The role at a glance:

As a sales team member, the P&C Broker’s role is focused on obtaining new insurance clients by providing value-added services and driving growth for the agency and personally. This includes performing various lead generation activities and being able to assist with improving insurance and risk management programs.

What you can expect to do:

Achieve a pre-designated and agreed upon annual new business goal.
Adhere to sales activities (cold calling, new business meetings, presentations, market research, referrals, etc.) as set by sales management.
Involvement in Trade Associations (meetings are often before or after normal working hours).
Continuous networking and relationship building within an industry niche and/or general business community.
Community or Charitable Association involvement (meetings are often before or after normal working hours).
Create and fill special risk management education seminars.
Continuous pursuit of education and relevant designations.
Internal leadership and excellent corporate citizenship.

Risk Management and Insurance Consultation Duties:

Lead contact and relationship management for assigned clients.
In-person meetings with leads to analyze current risk management and insurance plans and gather information to provide alternative programs.
Help analyze needs and develop appropriate risk control and insurance program changes.
Aid clients in how they need to administer their risk management program.
Serve as the lead on assigned accounts and be responsible for placement, coverage, and overall management of book of business.
Obtain alternative insurance quotes by preparing applications, discussing with underwriters, analyzing quotes, negotiating coverage/rates, and comparing various alternatives.
Prepare proposals for in-person prospect presentations, analyzing all options available and providing recommendations on best plans.
Claims management and advocacy.
Contract review and analysis.
General risk management tasks (Loss Analysis, Policy Review, and Loss Control Management).

What Success Looks Like:

Consistently meeting or exceeding your annual new business goals, as agreed upon with management.
Proactively engaging and consistently meeting sales activities KPIs, including cold calling, business meetings, presentation, market research, and referrals, as agreed upon with management.
Building and maintaining strong professional relationships within industry niche and/or general business community.
Strong commitment to networking by actively attending meetings, both during and outside of regular business hours, as needed to build valuable connections.
Validate under CMR standard comp plan within 36-48 months (timeline may vary for each individual).

What sets you apart:

Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in insurance and/or business development or sales role.
Current Property and Casualty License or ability to obtain a Property & Casualty license.
Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Familiarity with AMS360 or similar Agency Management System.
Experience with Salesforce, Asana, and DocsVault is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
Strong accuracy in handling documents, data entry, and following procedures.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Ability to solve problems and think independently.
Flexible in adjusting to changes within the industry and workplace processes.
Consistent punctuality and dependability in completing assigned duties.
Positive and approachable personality that fosters good working relationships with peers, clients, and carriers.
The ability to identify customer needs and develop and build customer relationships.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a typical office environment, which includes cubicles and open workspaces. The noise level is generally low to moderate. Employees are expected to work on computers and communicate in person or via phone and email.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision (working on a computer) and the ability to adjust focus.
