Full Job Description

POSITION

This is a full-time litigation paralegal position in a plaintiff-side employment class action firm. We are a growing firm that works in a team first environment. Successful applicants will be willing and able to work efficient and effectively, with strong organizational skills using our firm's well established systems.

Partial Work from Home option available after probationary period. You will be assigned to one associate attorney who is overseen by one partner-level attorney and will have the support of a lead paralegal who oversees all paralegals at the firm, as well as segmentation of cases such that you are handling only litigation cases from filing through settlement, with all settlement-related filings and tasks handled by the settlement team.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

Must Have Technical Skills

e-Filing on Pacer and OneLegal
Calendaring court and hearing deadlines based on notices and in accordance with CCP and FRCP rules
TOA, TOC in Word; PDF bates numbering skills

Litigation

Preparing stipulations, CMC statements, status reports, etc. in state and federal court.
Calendaring litigation and service dates and deadlines based on applicable state, federal, and/or local rules for the particular case.
Preparing first drafts of motions and other filings based on existing templates (i.e., adding pertinent facts from specific case into form document).
Preparing first drafts of discovery requests and responses, based on existing forms and templates.
Finalizing complaints and motions in Word and Adobe and then e-filing them through One Legal and calendaring all of the dates.
Coordinating service of filings and complaints with our process servers and making sure everything is on track and organized (e.g. case was served, dates are calendars, proof filed, etc.).
Following up with attorneys to stay on top of deadlines

Document Management and Organization

Reviewing and organizing documents received in discovery or in advance of mediation and ensuring all documents have been properly provided; following up as necessary with internal and external contacts such as experts and attorneys.

REQUIREMENTS

Prior experience in a litigation law firm is required for the position. Experience with Code of Civil Procedure calendaring rules and e-filing/service requirements is required.

Our firm works efficiently and uses modern software and automations to stay organized with our case load.

This is an in office position at our office in Mission Valley, San Diego.

Software used: Adobe, Word, Excel, Pipedrive CRM, Google Drive, Google Workspace, Telephone, Email,

PAY & HOURS

The position is hourly and 40 hours per week. Office hours are 8:30 to 5:00 with lunch and rest breaks. Benefits include PTO, firm 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions after waiting period, dental, and health insurance options.
