Full Job Description

Join Our Team: Housing Coordination and Retention Specialist

Are you passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced homelessness? Do you have experience in housing or social services and a deep commitment to helping people thrive in their new homes? If so, we want you to join our team as a Housing Coordination and Retention Specialist. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in the ECS Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool program, assisting individuals in successfully transitioning to permanent housing and ensuring long-term stability.

As a Housing Coordination and Retention Specialist, you’ll be directly involved in helping individuals, particularly those enrolled in the Shelter-in-Place (SIP) program, find and maintain housing in the private market. You’ll be an advocate, guide, and support system for clients as they navigate housing challenges, build healthy relationships with landlords, and create stable lives in their new homes.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist clients in viewing housing units and completing applications that meet their specific preferences and needs.
Educate clients on how to be respectful tenants and neighbors, fostering stable housing and positive community engagement.
Identify behaviors that may jeopardize housing stability and provide early intervention to support successful tenancy.
Offer coaching on managing relationships with landlords and other tenants to promote positive living environments.
Advocate for clients in resolving housing-related disputes and challenges.
Provide responsive support for tenant-related emergencies during business hours.
Connect clients to eviction-prevention resources and community support services.
Conduct home visits to assess habitability and ensure safe, comfortable living conditions.
Support clients in developing essential life skills, including home care and other practical tasks necessary for independent living.
Maintain accurate records and enter data in required systems such as CaseWorthy and the ONE System.
Offer culturally relevant, compassionate, and professional support, including referrals to other services when necessary.
Work as part of a collaborative team dedicated to harm reduction, recovery, and wellness.
Promote a client-centered, integrated service approach to support individuals in maintaining their housing long-term.

What You Bring:

At least 1 year of experience in case management, particularly working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
Experience in housing and homeless services is highly preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field is a plus, but not required.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
in Spanish/English is a plus, but not required.
A compassionate and empathetic listener, able to understand and respond to the unique needs and perspectives of each client.
A strong understanding of housing resources and services in the Bay Area.
Familiarity with supporting individuals who may face challenges such as substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health issues, or history of trauma.
A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a welcoming attitude toward individuals from all backgrounds and experiences.
Lived experience with housing instability or homelessness is highly valued, but not necessary.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to undergo fingerprint screening and annual TB screening.
Adherence to Episcopal Community Services policies, including confidentiality and respect for all individuals.
