ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Engineering:

Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents to guide field crews

Take field measurements and calculate quantities to track installed work
-
Support the development of work plans and work packages for upcoming activities
-
Assist with surveying and layout tasks, including elevations, control points, and as-built documentation
-
Compile and verify daily labor timesheets for accuracy
-
Help draft Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for planned work activities
-
Contribute to problem-solving on construction operations
-
Take part in safety reviews, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required training
-
Order and schedule material deliveries
-
Help plan, schedule, and coordinate jobsite work groups
-
Provide field supervision as required
Office Engineering:
-
Prepare material and quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
-
Perform basic engineering calculations and prepare sketches or technical drawings to support construction activities.
-
Gather, organize, and prepare information for submittals and communications with owners, designers, vendors, subcontractors, government agencies, and internal teams.
-
Support the preparation and administration of purchase orders and subcontracts, including limited-scope solicitations and purchasing assignments.
-
Assist with maintaining and updating project schedules as directed.
-
Maintain project records and correspondence, including daily reports, photographs, RFIs, submittals, meeting documentation, and memoranda.

Enter and validate job-cost information and participate in cost-report reviews with project management.

Support the identification, documentation, and preparation of change orders.
-
Provide technical and administrative support to field operations.
-
Coordinate with subcontractors and monitor their work for compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and contract requirements.
Estimating:
-
Review historical project data and assist in developing appropriate production rates, crew assumptions, and costs for bid preparation.

Review plans, specifications, and other solicitation documents to identify scope requirements, constructability considerations, and potential risks.

Prepare material and quantity takeoffs in accordance with the bid documents.

Outreach - find potential vendors and suppliers and find quotes within budget.

Assist with subcontractor and supplier solicitations and evaluation of quotations.

Organize supporting documentation and calculations for inclusion in the estimate and bid file.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Relevant experience in construction, or equivalent internship/co-op experience

Willingness and ability to travel and relocate as project needs require

Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from construction drawings and specifications
-
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
-
Sharp attention to detail and the ability to catch inconsistencies or errors
-
A strong work ethic and willingness to take on what's needed to get the job done

Work productively and meet deadlines on time

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with AutoCAD or other computer-based drawing systems

Must be able to report reliably and punctually to work
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site, including in varied weather, outdoor conditions, and lifting to 40 pounds

Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $90,000 USD / yr
