Full Job Description

A growing construction-based company is offering an excellent employment opportunity for a Payroll and Compliance Specialist with 3 years of experience in Human Resources including employee payroll platforms, labor law compliance, employee recruitment, employee benefits, and general business administration. If you can approach tasks with careful, deliberate, imaginative, and serious undertaking of defined work, and you’re willing to learn and expand your knowledge more, we want you to explore joining our team!

The Payroll and Compliance Specialist position is subject-matter expert role supporting the Management and Supervisor Team as a resource executing key human resources initiatives and administrative duties.

This position requires an ability to deal with factual and technical information and processes patiently and systemically, as well as an ability to focus directly on the knowledge base required for the task. As it deals primarily with tasks, it does not rely heavily on interactive or social skills. In fact, there are few responsibilities in that area, and significant private time to think and absorb information.

Because this is a creative, technical position, and because it requires a high level of expertise and accuracy, it provides opportunity to thoroughly plan in order to do the job right.

Ability to find precise solutions and implement them efficiently.
Must be technically and intellectually focused, developing imaginative solutions to problems and decisions. Approach to work is reserved, serious and disciplined, allowing for a thorough understanding of the job to be done or specific expertise to reach success. Should maintain an interest in developing or maintaining specialty knowledge.
Quality of decisions should be prioritized, ensuring a thorough decision-making process. Decisions must be based on factual information and cannot be rushed.
Communication is confident, reserved, and strictly factual. Work will be predominantly independent, with no outside pressure and little need for influencing or persuading others.
Delegation must be tight, with an emphasis on producing high-quality, accurate product and processes.

Day-to-day tasks include payroll, employee recruitment, onboarding, benefits, performance management procedures, labor compliance, and maintenance of company policies and practices. Further examples of daily responsibilities are as follows:

Conduct HR daily functions including administration, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and other HR responsibilities.
Coordinate and manage HR administrative tasks for new hires including screening, hiring, onboarding, new hire orientation, and benefits enrollment.
Administer employee compensation and benefits programs including 401K, Medical/Health, Dental, Vision Benefits, Life Insurance/Disability, Holidays/Vacation.
Collect, process, verify, and maintain documentation and employee records relating to HR activities such as staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
Assist with recruiting and communications during the onboarding process for candidates and new hires, in addition to exit interviews.
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in HR responsibilities and employee programs such as employment authorization, workplace policies, diversity, anti-harassment, Employee Assistance, etc.
Maintain a professional working relationship with all staff as well as external partners.

Qualifications / Skills

A bachelor's degree requires other advanced degrees is a plus.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources and other experience in business administration, payroll platforms, and labor compliance.
Demonstrated understanding of payroll, benefits, and other related HR procedures.
Working knowledge of state and Federal labor and employment law, such as wage & hour, benefits, worker's compensation, and EEO requirements.
Highly effective interpersonal skills possessing, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution when interacting with employees, new hires, hiring managers, and other stakeholders, including upper and executive-level management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products: PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
Outstanding, professional written and verbal communication skills.
Bi-lingual English and Spanish.

PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS

The position may require walking between offices, sitting at a desk, computer data input, and speaking with company employees over the phone and in-person.

· Work hours - Monday – Friday 8-hour shift
