Job description:
The primary responsibility of the Data Analyst is to support the reporting, analytics, and operational data needs of the School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County (SHCSCC). This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, validation, automation, and distribution of reports, dashboards, and data solutions that support clinical operations, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, financial analysis, and organizational decision-making. The Data Analyst serves as a technical resource for healthcare reporting, business intelligence, and data management utilizing Epic, SQL, Tableau, SSRS, and other
reporting technologies. Responsibilities include maintaining reporting infrastructure, supporting
automated reporting processes, performing data validation and analysis, supporting
supplemental data submissions and regulatory reporting requirements, and ensuring the
reliability of critical reporting functions. Working collaboratively with operational, clinical, quality
improvement, finance, and leadership teams, the Data Analyst translates business requirements into actionable reporting solutions while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, process improvement, and data-driven decision support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, document, and translate business requirements into reporting, analytics, and data management solutions.
- Develop, maintain, validate, and distribute reports, dashboards, and data extracts using Epic, SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, Excel, and other reporting tools.
- Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements including UDS, HCAI, health plan reporting, grant reporting, supplemental data submissions, and other organizational reporting obligations.
- Performs ad-hoc data analysis using tools such as OCHIN Epic Reporting Workbench, OCHIN Epic Clarity, OCHIN Epic Crystal Reports, OCHIN Epic SAP Business Objects, and application analytic packages.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for reporting systems, Epic applications, analytics tools, and business system applications.
- Documents issues and resolutions in the user-facing helpdesk knowledgebase system.
- Participates in the planning and execution of the overall business systems roadmap; understanding changing business needs, company objectives, and resource allocation.
- Provides technical support to the end-users on all business system applications.
- Documents issues and resolutions in the user-facing helpdesk knowledgebase system.
- Develops positive and collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, technical resources, application users, and corporate management.
- Manages multiple simultaneous projects and tasks with changing priorities.
- Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
- Assists in the enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.
- Contributes to developing organizational functional knowledge.
- Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them.
- Identifies and executes on opportunities for process workflow improvements.
- Determines and defines business requirements based on government regulations and business needs.
- Performs OCHIN EHR Support Analyst roles and responsibilities as needed.
- Provides direct support to clinical operation and patient care teams to facilitate the introduction, acceptance, integration, and optimal use of the Epic application in the clinic.
- Provides daily support to applications users through troubleshooting, coaching, and consulting.
- Maintains member-managed system setups such as the provider master file, security, and preference lists.
- For EHR support, works collaboratively with clinicians and in concert with established EMR processes.
- Collaborates with OCHIN to test new features and upgrades prior to implementation.
- Attends appropriate clinic department meetings as Epic expert and as OCHIN liaison.
- Maintains Enterprise Practice setups such as the Clinic Resource, Security rights and user accounts, Definitions, Fee Schedule, and Procedure Code tables.
- Manages user accounts.
- Generates metric reports as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Attends workshops, training, and meetings as needed, and as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Works flexible schedule and overtime, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Health Information, Public
Health or related field preferred, or at least 1 year of proven experience;
- Minimum one year working with computer systems related to health care;
- Minimum one year of data analysis experience; focus on health data preferred;
- Proficiency in FQHC-related data reporting, specifically UDS, HEDIS, and Clinical Quality
Measures;
- Proficiency in Excel particularly advanced level;
- Proficiency in SQL;
- Proficiency in other data reporting and development tools such as Tableau, R, SAS, Python,
Business Objects desired but not required.
- Proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint;
- Ability to learn new skills related to healthcare;
- Ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for various assigned projects and tasks;
