About Caldwell Manufacturing

Founded in 1987, Caldwell Manufacturing is a precision machine shop located in Lockhart, Texas. We serve a diverse range of industries, producing high-quality components in low- to mid-volume runs. Some jobs may run for several days, while others require multiple setups in a single shift—keeping the work both technical and engaging.

We value craftsmanship, continuous learning, and a commitment to doing things right the first time. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a CNC Programmer who thrives on solving complex machining challenges and creating efficient, reliable processes.

Role Overview

As our CNC Programmer, you’ll be responsible for turning customer prints and 3D models into optimized, production-ready programs for our CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and CNC Swiss. You’ll collaborate directly with machinists and management to ensure every job runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets our high standards of precision.

What You’ll Do

Program CNC mills and lathes using CAM software
Develop effective machining strategies for complex geometries and tight tolerances
Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and workholding setups
Simulate and verify toolpaths before releasing to production
Prove out programs on machines, fine-tuning as necessary
Create setup sheets, tool lists, and process documentation
Collaborate with machinists to resolve machining or tooling issues
Continuously improve cycle times, tool life, and process consistency
Review engineering prints and apply GD&T principles accurately

What You’ll Bring

3-5+ years of CNC machining experience
1+ year of CNC Programming experience
Strong proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)
Working knowledge of G-code and machining fundamentals
Ability to read and interpret complex prints and GD&T
Solid understanding of tooling, cutting strategies, and materials
Experience programming both CNC mills and lathes preferred

Nice to Have

Esprit programming Experience
Multi-Axis Lathe or Swiss machining experience
Fixture or workholding design knowledge
Proficiency with stainless steel, titanium, or other tough materials
Background in high-mix, low- to mid-volume job shop environments
