SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining Resident medical information by performing the following duties.
** RHIT desired but not required-Also responsible for auditing off-site medical records for completeness and accuracy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Medical Records Coordinator:
· Prepares medical charts for admits. Closes discharge charts and audits for complete info/data.
· Enters all data for admits, discharges, labs, physician’s visits, and physical and history due dates.
· Prints all records for each resident on a monthly. Color codes and distributes to appropriate departments.
· Maintains census log with admit and discharge information.
· Files records in resident charts.
· Enters MDS data and prints as needed.
· Completes and sends state government forms when appropriate.
· Maintains medical records files as appropriate including thinning current resident charts.
· Transcribes physician’s dictation.
· Orders charting supplies including flowsheet forms and supplies for nursing as needed.
· Codes diagnosis using ICD-10-CM for each resident.
· Audits charts and assures appropriate information/data is complete.
· Works closely with DNS to ensure accuracy and completeness of resident charts.
· Submits monthly facility census/vacancy report to the Administrator, DNS and CEO.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Computer experience and proficiency is required. The ability to learn and work efficiently with Point Click Care or similar software along with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Has demonstrated the ability to learn new systems and programs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
