Full Job Description

Security Officer

The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) in Santa Fe is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Security Officer that will report to the Chief Technology Officer. The Security Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and monitoring the NMFA’s information security program to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of NMFA’s information systems and data. The Security Officer leads security governance efforts, oversees security risk management activities, ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and contractual requirements, and serves as the primary point of contact for cybersecurity-related matters.

NMFA is a government instrumentality whose mission is to be New Mexico’s partner in building economic prosperity and stronger communities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with executive leadership, business units, information technology staff, vendors, and external stakeholders to establish and maintain an effective security posture that supports organizational objectives while managing cybersecurity risks. Areas of oversight include cybersecurity, incident response and business continuity, security awareness training, third-party security, and strategic security planning. The Security Officer will provide subject matter expertise and consultation related to data governance, analytics, and information security practices.

The ideal candidate will possess a B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited university in information technology, cybersecurity, risk management or a related field, and is preferred to have CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or CISA certifications. 10+ years progressively responsible experience in cloud and network security, identity and access management, incident response, and data governance is required. Strong leadership, collaboration, and relationship-management skills, including the ability to build trust, influence organizational change, foster consensus, and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels are essential.
